Chapter 19

Eyes came their way as Jaejoong & Tiffany entered the third floor, hand in hand. Tiffany blushed & looked at him. He had the biggest grin on his face as he bent down & whispered into her ears.

“I think they are taking it quite well.” That brought on another blush from Tiffany, “I have some documents I must take care of. I will be back to take you out for lunch. Don’t accept any invitations to lunch.” With a peck on the cheeks, Jaejoong turned & walked back into the elevator. Everyone waited until the elevator closed before they bombarded her with questions.

Junsu was the first to ask, “So, you guys finally got together? I knew you wanted him.”

“When did this happen? Was it last night after you left the bar?” Yuri chimed in, while holding a file.

“Guys, it’s not that big of a deal. Let’s just all get back to work.” Tiffany was trying to push her way through the little crowd only to be shoved back down into a chair.

“You are not going to get away with it that easily, Tiffany.” He stopped her with a hand on her shoulder.

“So, is he a good kisser? He’s got to be. He’s famous with the girls.”

Tiffany blushed again, “Um...guys, I don’t think that matters.” Before anyone could comment, Mr. Kim came out from the elevator, sending everyone scrambling back to their positions.

“Tiffany, I need to speak to you. Privately if possible.” He kept up his usual stern facade but she could see that he was hiding something.

“Of course, uncle Kim. We can talk in my office if you had like.” Tiffany motioned towards the closed door, “That’s not necessary. Jaejoong is already waiting in my office for us.” She took hold of his elbow as they walked into the elevator.

“Uncle Kim, are you feeling alright today? You don’t look so well. Maybe you should take the day off. I’m sure Jaejoong & I can take care of things here.” She tried to see through him. Mr. Kim was always the easy one to read. If anything bothered him, Tiffany knew it right away but this time was different. He hid his feelings well. Too well. As they entered the large & spacious office, Tiffany released her hold on him. He motioned for the both of them to sit before he took his seat. With his fingers intertwined & his elbows in front, he began to speak, not really making eye contact.

“Jaejoong, as you know, your mother hasn’t been feeling well lately. I’m sure you can already see her problem. Ever since your accident three years ago, she began hearing things. She began to hear voices she said. She would speak of them sometimes & they would all be about you. She speaks of a fiance. Sometimes, she would describe her to me but never was able to tell me her name. I don’t really know why of all the things in the world, she dreams of your fiance. When she was half conscious, she would ask me where her future daughter-in-law was. When I told her that you weren’t engaged, she would break into a great depression that lasted for days. Then I decided that I would lie to her & say that you had a fiance. After that, it seemed as if she felt better. Occasionally, she would
