Prodigy
Description
They tell a story of a boy for all to hear as a warning; a boy so talented, perhaps too much, gifted and blessed and the perfect son. He was bright, he was powerful, good with a blade and an ideal pupil. However, there is a girl in the story too—she brings him astray, turns this once-prodigy into a traitor, into someone flawed, when anything less than perfect cannot be accepted.
Baekhyun also has a story to tell; a story of a boy pushed too far past his limits to return; a story of a boy who craved, perhaps too much, the acceptance of a father that never really existed.
Foreword
Prequel to Cutlass, although it can read as a standalone without prior knowledge.
But yes, because it's technically pt.1 of the Cutlass trilogy, you don't need much knowledge of Cutlass to read it.
Here are a couple notes, mostly if you're coming from Cutlass/XMTS:
>Set 8 years before Cutlass, when Baekhyun was still with his family.
>Told from Baekhyun's POV!
>This will be short. I hope I'm not lying this time. Under ten chapters...give or take? It was initially supposed to be the 5 rewind chapters I was writing for Cutlass, but I decided to have it as a seperate one here, so now I guess Cutlass is a trilogy.
>Keep in mind when you're reading that Baekhyun will probably be drastically different here than he is in Cutlass and X Marks the Spot—he's 16, struggling with his identity and what he believes, confused about his father and his place, and really, really lost.
>When I do update, however, please don't rush me for updates in the comments! I try my best to write, though my schedule is extremely busy and I can't guarantee everything.
>Call me Emily, please, not authornim.
Here's a map of the Cutlass universe, although Prodigy is mostly set in Vasileia and its general area:
