Show Schedule
Circus of Words: A Writing Contest — open & accepting entries! (Guidelines updated!)Before proceeding, please read the Circus Host's announcement as an additional contest submission rule: PSA.
Now here are the different sets of Shows (challenges) with their respective list of prompts and rules depending on the difficulty level!
PARADEThis show is basically free-for-all. You can write what you want, all author's choice, from the prompt down to the genre. Except, we do have a word count and group options that limit this challenge a bit. So, once you have your ideas in mind, try to implement these challenges into your writing.
Write about Seventeen, EXO, Red Velvet, or ATEEZ! Any pairing, or even no pairings at all. Just don't mix these groups together. Choose one group to star in your fic and stick with them. Side characters can be from other groups that are not on the list, but the main ones have to be from these groups only. Keep the word count around 2,000 to 15,000 words. The key is for your story to not be any shorter or longer than the word count limit. Old and new stories are accepted here. They can be entry stories to other contests as well, I'll allow that. And you can also enter Parade challenge as many times as you'd like. This challenge will have unlimited entries, meaning there is no set number of applicants in place here. INTERMISSIONThis show is a little bit tricky. We now have flying trapeze and fire-breathers! I hope you're ready for some action! In this challenge, you will be given prompts and genres.
Write about Seventeen only! Any pairing, or no pairing—your call. You can choose to follow one member's POV if you want to. Again, side characters from other groups are fine, but the main characters have to be from Seventeen. Keep the word count around 2,000-15,000 words as per usual. You have to start with at least one prompt. But if you choose to write using multiple prompts, you can only use up to three, and no more than that. The story must be newly written. You can enter them in other writing contests if you want. And you are allowed to submit another Intermission challenge entry if you'd like to use the other prompts in a different story, but the limit is two (2) entries per author. In this challenge, I will be accepting five (5) entries only. Again, this is to ensure that there are people joining. If, by some luck, more participants wish to join, I will allow more people to enter in this challenge. But now, I am starting with just five. Now for your choices. In genres, you can choose between Horror, Fantasy, Angst, College AU, and Friends to lovers as the main genre. You can mix in other genres, but there will be exception: the characters must be of age at the present time when the story takes place, so unfortunately, we will not be accepting High School AU or anything similar. There can be flashback
