Description

When mildly reclusive Irene starts hanging out and hooking up with her new neighbour, Seulgi, their attraction is instant, though neither of them expect their relationship to progress into anything more, especially since they both continue to pursue other people. What happens when two extremely chill people strike up a friendship and then some? Practically nothing. An anti-romance and anti-angst ode to all our comrades-in-boredom.

Foreword

This is a little writing experiment to see if I can write a slow burn without any angst.

Wendy doesn't appear for a while, and Rosie appears even later in the story. I don't think I've ever read a Seulrosé pairing in a story, but I thought it might be interesting. Feel free to point me in the direction of any Seulrosé stories that exist, I would love to check them out. Endgame is Seulrene (it will be pretty obvious anyway), and please don't expect much in the way of plot, just lots of chillin', lots of conversation, and a reasonable amount of .

I hope you all get a kick out of this, and I love getting feedback (even if it's to yell at me in frustration).

Chapter 17: Chapter 17: Well, not a robot, not yet a woman. Sums up the chapter pretty well. Like the fact that Seulgi's standing by her commitment to be with Rosie, but it also kind of feels like a betrayal. To be with someone, but to be in love with somebody else. Reminded me of the Truman Show - when Truman was married to his wife but has always been in love with Sylvia. But you know what, it happens more than we think it does. This is quite a pretty realistic story. You could have ended it here, without the bombastic, puking rainbows kind of happy ending, and I'd still really like it.

Chapter 16: What I appreciate in their set up is that they are growing together with their own partners. I think it's the road for a healthier relationship once they realize its bunny and bear in the end to forever. Thank you author!

Chapter 16: Ohh, I wonder when they'll stop denying themselves the wonders of enjoying that "dumb kid stuff". We only live once (in this form, anyway) — love is worth all that! 😁

Chapter 16: Aaaawww Seulgi. Her last line was so endearing and how she kept saying she's team Irene no matter what hehe oh being in love. And also Irene clarifying how her and Wendy weren't really a ride or die kind of couple... Seulrene are soooooo ride or die! I'm so excited! We're getting there. I can feel it. Thank you so much author 🧡

Chapter 16: Chapter 16: Marriage and kids are indeed big. And so is love, the choices we make to commit with someone, the attempts not to conflate or confuse or glorify or romanticize the two. Didn't know this is how Wenrene will end -- Irene really liked her, huh? Made her cry for the first time. Does Seulgi really like Rosé -- I don't know, I don't want her to be an ersatz. If Seulgi's already nursing some feelings for Irene, why go with her? I hope it's not for convenience, although I get the point that proximity, logic and all the blessings of circumstance are what could make relationships work, not necessarily the "dumb kid stuff" of being in love. I just think Seulgi and Rosé deserve something authentic between them.
