Here Ever After
Description
Jessica knows it's wrong. Tiffany knows it's wrong. Their future is hanging by a thread that's so precarious that they could lose it in the blink of an eye. They're not supposed to do this. It's a common thought, but every time it comes up, it gets twisted and broken around until all they can think about is what ifs and maybes. When Jessica reaches for the door handle, she wants nothing more than to charge inside, gun in hand, without thinking twice. After all, it's for Tiffany.
Foreword
Jessica opens to refute her statement, but she stops herself short at her last word. She doesn't know how to explain what she just heard, even to herself. She hadn't expected Tiffany to become brusque. She hadn't expected her to snap at her like that.
"Sorry that I asked," she says after a moment, trying to hide her hurt and confusion. It comes off as more aggressive than she intended it to be.
Tiffany doesn't receive it well because she immediately replies defensively, "It's fine," and she doesn't let Jessica get a chance to speak.
She retreats and removes Jessica's hands from her body, leaving the space between them open and empty once more. "You should go home," she declares. She looks over her shoulder, and the look she gives Jessica makes the brunette feel as though she's standing outside of herself.
It hurts. A lot.
