Call Me Kris

It was a quiet Friday. Class was on hiatus for lunch.
Jungah sat in the dark auditorium alone with her earphones in her ears. *Something is missing…* There was an emptiness in the air, but she wasn’t sure what it was. Jungah pulled her earphones off her ears and looked around. *What am I looking for?* With a shrug, she wound her earphones around her ipod, slipped them into her pocket, and left the auditorium.
Most of the students were still scarfing down their meals in the cafeteria.
Stretching her arms upwards, Jungah walked down the empty hallway. She heard a commotion nearby and halted. Jungah directed her face towards the mutters. They were coming from the boys’ restroom.
The door swung open and a cloud of smoke puffed out.
Jungah could smell weed in the air, and her nose scrunched up in distaste. She was about to leave when she heard a familiar voice coming from inside the restroom. Her eyes rounded in recognition. *That voice…* Jungah spun her head.
Kris was coming out of the room along with the half-awake druggies of the school. He held out a card with a hushed mumble, “Call this number if you need any more.” They accepted the card and nodded.
Kris faced forward and froze. His eyes slightly widened at the sight of Jungah. *Crap.*
Jungah stared at him. Her gaze drifted to the incoherent druggies who reeked of pot and cigarettes as they stumbled past her. Kris could tell she was assessing the situation. Jungah looked back at Kris. After a few seconds, she turned and walked away.
Kris reached out, but she was already gone. He didn’t know why he was suddenly so alert. His heart raced in panic. *Crap. She saw me dealing with them. I hope she doesn’t have a worse impression of me. I should go explain things to her.* Kris chased after her.
Jungah left the building and went to the vacant yard. She sat on a wooden bench underneath the breezy shade of the large oak tree and crossed her arms. Jungah pulled out her ipod and unwound the earphones from it.
Kris spotted her and ran over. “Hey.” His voice was shaky and breathless.
She looked up, blinked once, and then looked back down.
His heart was palpitating in his chest. He had never felt so anxious in his life. Not even when he was put in a death situation against a rival mafia.
Jungah put the earphones in her ears. Kris sat next to her, “We need to talk.”
She didn’t hear him. He snatched her ipod away. Finally, he had her attention.
“Give me my ipod back. Now.” Jungah demanded.
“Not until you hear me out first.” Kris said.
“About what?” She asked. “About…back there…” He said
