Foreword
Excerpt:
Minyoung placed the tray of tea and sweets down on the small table before kneeling in front of Yiyun. She took a small breath and smiled. “Have you heard the news from the palace?” she asked as she held out the cup of hot tea. She looked at Yiyun as she froze in place before she accepted the cup with a gentle bow.
“No, Minyoung… you know they do not tell me much,” Yiyun answered and carefully held the cup between both hands before slowly blowing at it to cool the tea. “Tell me please.”
Minyoung glanced over at Sung-ki as he straightened in the doorway. He slightly bowed in encouragement and looked away –though kept his attention on his ward. “King Seung-won has made a declaration…”
Yiyun slowly glanced up at Minyoung and held her breath at the mention of her father. “Wh-what about the king?”
Minyoung quickly her lips and took the cup of tea away from Yiyun. “The king wishes for the princess to marry.”
Yiyun’s hands shook –as Miyoung had suspected they would- but with Yiyun’s numerous years of training, she immediately stilled them and placed them on her lap. She looked down at her lap and slowly breathed in and out. She stilled her expression and looked up at Minyoung. “Did the king mention who the groom would be?”
“From the rumors… the king is still thinking about it,” Miyoung answered and looked away, not wanting to see Yiyun’s expression.
Yiyun slowly nodded and picked up her cup of tea again. She forced a smile and gracefully sipped from the cup. “Well… as the king decrees it, Minyoung.”
Minyoung exchanged glances with Sung-ki… their expressions similar –shock, and astonishment- that the princess was accepting the news so with so much composure. “Y-yes, princess…”
A/N: I do realize (and sincerely apologize) that I have several stories I need to update (and haven't)... and I'm not sure if other writer's have this problem, but I have too many story ideas floating in my head. This particular storyline has been rolling in my head, and so I needed to at least start it. I really hope people will enjoy. Please look forward to the story. I appreciate any and all comments/suggestions/critiques.
And many many thanks to my sister cin-spire for the ps picture of Amber. ^^
