Park Jiyoung or basically, her parents called her, Vivien first open her eyes at New York, UK on 11 August, 1998. Both her parents are profesionals, so since Jiyoung was young, her mother let her to read stories and listen to Mozart. Because of this, Jiyoung loves to read stories and anything that has words on it. When she was 10, she moved to Korea with her parents as they were having a long term bussness there.As she grows up, she went into the best school in gangnam. Although she had an average score, but her literature is the highest mark among them. Seeing her talent, her parents decided to let her focus more on literature and writing. Jiyoung participated the poetry club and won many contest on poem-writing and many more

She had interest in kpop when one of her friends let her see the music video of Afterschool. That friend introduced her to kpop and that where she started to like Afterschool. She watched every variety shows they was in.One day, her friend shows her an advertisement about an audition in Pledis Entertainment. Jiyoung decided to audition as she always hope to be underthe same company as her idol, Afterschool.

She sent a video of her talents to the company. After a few days, she is accepted. Jiyoung told her parents  about this. Her parents didn't agree at first, since they were going to be at New York in a few weeks, but seeing she worked hard every day, every night. Her parents decided to let her go because they know that she is independent in taking care of herself. Her sister,Jiwon who is protective decided to follow her to help her settle down. After she arrived there, she auditioned once again and finally accepted as a trainee in Pledis Entertainment
