Eucalyptus Leaves

The eucalyptus leaves rustle outside,
In the cold, crispy air.
The sun hides shyly,
Behind the grey clouds.

You smile gently,
As your lashes cascade down your cheeks,
Your beautiful brown eyes are closed,
But I can still see them, in my mind.

Watching you sleep,
Reminds me of my dream.
You were in it.
I dreamt of you last night.

In your world,
I'm probably just a passerby.
In my world,
You're everywhere: my head, my heart, my dreams.

I'm a fool.
I'm stupid.
I'm crazy.
I'm a coward.

I'm a fool.
Daydreaming about you.
At school, at home, everywhere.
Won't get me nowhere.

I'm stupid.
Chances are,
You don't even know me.
And you'll disappear from my memories, my heart, like everyone else.

I'm crazy.
You're taken.
I still hope.
You drive me crazy, boy.

I'm a coward,
Who can't even admit she's in love,
Even to herself.
Who hides herself from sight.

Did you notice?
That moment we locked eyes.
Probably not,
But, just telling you, that moment drove my heart crazy.

Why am I writing this?
Maybe to hold onto this memory, this feeling,
Of a crush, a childish crush.
So this moment won't disappear as well.

The eucalyptus leaves rustle outside,
In the cold, crispy air.
The sun hides shyly,
Behind the grey clouds.
