Is The Boss really the boss?

Not right now. But I believe they may be in the near future. I knew this band existed and that one of them held an "almost-too-strong-resemblance" to Kim Jaejoong from DBSK. However, that was all I knew about them. I thought they were some lame newbie band that had the same dream as every other group out there. I was proven wrong when I decided to watch their MV for "Lady."

In this song, they show off some pretty powerful vocals and very beautifully chosen chords. Whoever composed the song needs some more credit. I really like ballads, because you get to do so much with them; so this song definitely made me think twice about this band. The style of this song is reminiscent of some of DBSK's earlier songs (see: "When We'll Be Together," "I Never Let Go," etc.), and DGNA executed it very well. I'm really critical when it comes to how many chords a group can pull off, and I have to say--these guys really have my respect now. "Calling You," another song off their second mini-album, is nothing special, but it just really takes me back to the good old days, when I would listen to DBSK and nothing else.

I feel a little bad making so many references to DBSK when I'm talking about another band, but if these guys are looking to be "the second TVXQ," then I think they have a chance. I'm a hardcore Cassie, so it's not exactly very easy to admit this. They don't have as a great a vocal range as DBSK does, but they're still young. I have yet to see if they can pull off other styles besides ballads, so I'll think more about their potential success when I see how versatile they really are. But if they choose to stick to a concept and style that fits them, I'm fine with that, too. Artists should be able to produce what they want and not have to adjust to the masses. Many groups have fallen victim to the latter, and it's a shame to see all that talent wasted.

Best of luck to Dae Guk Nam Ah.
