Do they like/dislike it? Why?: Yaena dislikes the school, mainly because it is tougher and more demanding than her schools back in California. She has less freedom and down time.

How are they treated there?: Although she is technically a foreigner, she is Korean so she is not looked upon in awe or contempt. Sure, some people ask questions about how life was like the USA, but they mostly treat her like any other Korean classmate. What/how/when/why?: *I'm sorry if some of the times don't correspond with

when you want the story to take place. I'm trying to base it off the Korean schooling schedule, where the first semester is March to Mid July, and the second semester is End of August to Mid February.

During one of the breaks in between semesters for Jeonjung, from mid July to the end of August, the whole family decided to return to Santa Barbara for a vacation. (Rough dates: July 15th - August 28th.) They decided to stay for the whole break time. Yaena caught up with some of her friends that she had left behind two years prior, and met her ex-boyfriend. He was single, just as she had left him... And they rekindled their relationship. On her birthday, they went out to a nice restaurant and hung out at his house afterwards. His parents weren't home...and they were moving their relationship along faster, since she would be leaving at the end of the summer. They had dated since they were 12, and now that they were 17, they felt like they were truly in love.

And so, they did the deed. They did take some precautions, such as using protection. They happily dated and did the deed a few more times in August, up until she left on the 28th. They promised to stay in touch over emails and video calls. Yaena, the day before she was to leave, asked him, "So are you planning to propose once I come back next year?" Her boyfriend had laughed awkwardly and sort of avoided the question. A few weeks into the school year, Yaena started to show symptoms of pregnancy. She had watched plenty of movies, so she was worried. When her older sisters came home, she begged them to not tell her parents and to go buy pregnancy tests. The only people that know are her sisters, and so far, they estimate she is about a month or two pregnant.

Yaena has tried to contact her boyfriend since the vacation, but he hasn't answered any emails or video calls. She later found out through one of her friends back in Cali that he was dating someone else. Yaena doesn't know what she's going to do, especially since she is an athlete. She doesn't want to abort the child, but doesn't know what she's doing.

Personality:

Energetic: Yaena is normally a hyper person. She hates being contained and being told what to do. She's not exactly rebellious, but doesn't do well in the Korean schooling system. She needs to be constantly doing something, which is why she is heavily active in sports. Academically, she does fine, but getting her to focus on one subject for extended periods of time proves difficult. She has been known to zone out during class or work on something else.

Impulsive: Yaena often doesn't think things through. Especially with her relationship with her boyfriend. She acts before she thinks - or, rather, she acts on her feelings rather than logic. She's an avid follower of the mottos "take the chance while you still have it" and "you have to take risks to get what you want". She's loyal and protective over people she cares about, and will do anything in a moment's notice if they want her to. Because of this, she can be easily coerced into doing things by her peers.

Confident: There is no denying that although Yaena isn't the best academic student, she is very pretty and very fit. Ever since she was young, she had been showing off her athletic talents with ballet, tennis, track and field - name any sport, she's likely to have played it at least once. She is very confident and isn't afraid to tell people off when she sees fit. This often earns her the label of "troublemaker" in schools. She doesn't actively seek trouble. Her confidence can be interpreted as she being vain, and she can brag.

Childish: She doesn't like responsibilities. She's hardly ever serious, and kind of just lets life run its course, without her planning much for the future. She likes playing around. She teases people a lot and usually doesn't realize if the teasing is hurting them or not.

Emotional: She's not a 24/7 sobbing banshee, but she can get rather emotional. She responds to tragedies by crying; she screams at horror movies; she curses and maybe hits things when her team loses games; she squeals when she sees cute things. Background: Kim Yaena was born into the world on July 30th, 1996, in Santa Barbara, California. She had two older sisters, Jina and Hyuna. Although they had English names (Gina, Hanna, and Yenna), they preferred to go by their Korean names, as they weren't too hard to pronounce. They were a close family and did many things together. Since she was four, she was signed up for gymnastics and ballet. She made many friends at school and was considered a popular girl. Everything seemed awesome, up until her mother died of pneumonia when she was nine. Her father was devastated and couldn't do much for the family. He cooped himself up in his room, or in his work. Her eldest sister, Jina, took up most of the chores around the house.

When Yaena was 12, she met a very nice boy in her tennis team. They decided to date, even when most people told them it would be over in a month, tops. They dated all throughout their seventh and eighth grade years, without breaking up and getting back together. They were going to keep on dating during their highschool years, too, but Yaena's dad decided to relocate the family to Seoul. Jina was taking care of the family, but in doing so, she had forfeited her college education. Feeling guilty, their dad wanted to take them to Seoul, where they would spend most of their time in school, so he wouldn't have to worry too much about them. He had also acquired a job transfer to Seoul. Yaena and her boyfriend broke up, because they felt that they couldn't work with long distance. In Seoul, Jina and Hyuna were both able to attend universities, while Yaena was the only one left to high school. When she entered Jeonjung, her older sisters took her to a tattoo parlor to get a matching tattoo.

Personality: Sungjong is a very kind hearted, yet still snarky, person. Around people he doesn't know too well, he gives off the impression of a soft spoken child. However, once you get to know him, he is actually rather mischevious, snarky, and playful. He doesn't express his caring through normal means. Instead, he shows some tough love through shoulder punches and the like. He's somewhat of a diva and can be pretty sassy. Still, he knows his boundaries and is respectful to adults and elders...unless he knows them well enough. He's a popular boy, as well. He loves kids and animals and becomes one of those "oooh who's a good boy? Goo goo gaga!" people around them.

Interactions: Yaena and Sungjong don't interact too much, as they are a grade apart. However, sthey do meet and chat during lunch, if possible. They bicker sometimes and tease each other. They occaisonally play pranks on each other.

Meet/met: Niel, Eunji, and Yaena decided to hang out one day at Niel's house (when they were first years). When they arrived at his house, they found out that his cousins were over. Niel introduced Eunji and Yaena to Sungjong, who was a second year at the time. They all helped out Niel's mom with food preparations and later played some video games together.

Their status: Single and ready to mingle. Sungjong likes Yaena, and she likes him back...but is still a bit mixed up because of her ex.

Personality: Victoria's a very nice, friendly, motherly type person. She's very welcoming and cheerful. However, she can be a bit competitive, especially when it comes to dance. She did transfer from Beijing Dance Academy, afterall. She turns into a complete beast when it comes to dance and other competitions. She'll do whatever it takes to show the other person that she is better in dance than they are, but she knows when she is outmatched. Still, she keep on trying.

Interactions: Yaena met Victoria when Victoria first transferred in. She was a bit lost and had an accent to her Korean. They are mostly friendly to each other, but once sports come in, or dance, they are competitive. Well, at least Victoria is. They can argue a lot and yell at each other, but other times, they get along as if nothing is the matter.

Why they're your rival: Back in China, Victoria had attended Beijing Dance Academy, as well as particpating in many other sports. When they were in their sports class, they were two of the best players. They competed and later found out about the other's dance history. Yaena's not too crazy about beating Victoria, but Victoria is heavily obssessed about proving herself as the better athlete.
