Day 7 of #WenreneArtTober: Stare

It’s the way you stared at me when we first met. You were so beautiful even back when we were trainees - eyes full of wonder and slight amusement, your piercing look getting to me as I stuttered to introduce myself to you. I’d like to think you found me cute or maybe I just humored you, but your once cold gaze turned into something different as your eyes crinkled into a smile of their own, your hand grasping mine for the first out of many times, unbeknownst to us both. 

“It’s nice to meet you, Seungwan. I’m Joohyun.”

We’re older now - and more mature. Being in a group for years does that I guess, both the good and especially the bad parts of it. And as the years progressed and with everything in between, I could tell that our stares turned into something more. There are times when I’d look at you -  I’d stare as we’d hold hands, my gaze lingering for much longer than it should as I try to make sense of the feelings slowly building up in my heart. There are times I’d find myself glaring daggers at other people who approach you - clenching my fists to my sides knowing that I don’t even have the right to be angry at the thought of other people wanting you. 

Yet even as I constantly tell myself that I can’t and that I shouldn’t be feeling what I do, there are times when I catch you slipping too - you’d always look at me too long that other people start to notice. I know that you look at me, your eyes shifting down to my lips at times when you think I’m not aware. A
