Pink Muhly Magic
Description
Yesung, pureblood Slytherin, and Hyukjae, muggle-born Hufflepuff, meet on the latter's first day at Hogwarts and the rest is history. [ A Yehyuk Hogwarts AU ]
Foreword
The tapping on the window grew louder despite the kid’s attempts to block the sound by burying himself under his blankets. With a frustrated groan, he pushed the blanket away from his face and glared at his window, which had the curtains shutting all the sunlight out of the room.
“This better be important.” The 11-year-old muttered grumpily as he forced himself to stand and dragged his feet to the source of the sound. He pushed the curtains away, taking a second to glare at the unfamiliar owl that stood there before turning to also glare at the sun for being up so early.
In case it wasn’t obvious, this particular child didn’t like waking up so early in the morning. Not when he was up last night reading books with no care about the time.
The owl quickly flew in and dropped an envelope by his windowsill, and watched him expectedly. “I don’t have any food for you.” The boy sighed. “This is my room. You should have gone to the kitchen instead.”
As if understanding his words, the owl angrily attempted to nip at his fingers, which he was quick to hide behind his back, before flying off.
He blinked at the disappearing figure of the owl before closing the window again and finally putting his attention on the envelope. He blinked once more at the sight of his name and his specific address, suddenly having a hunch about what it contained.
With a growing sense of expectation, he quickly grabbed it and flipped it to the other side, revealing the familiar crest of the school his parents had told him endless stories of - from its moving staircases to the secret way to the kitchens. Of course, there was no doubt he’d be attending, especially with their pureblood family and the fact he’s been showing signs of magic since he was a baby. But that didn’t stop him from feeling excited at the adventure he was about to go on soon.
“I’m going to Hogwarts,” Yesung whispered to himself with a smile.
~ ONE YEAR LATER ~
“WHAT IS THAT?! GET IT OUT! GET IT OUT!” The girl screamed in the middle of their family breakfast when something flew in through the open window of their house and perched itself on one of the dining room chairs. The entire family had shot up to their feet in surprise at this dark creature in their house.
“I think it’s an owl?” The boy answered the girl in a slightly high-pitched tone because he was also very much afraid, but he won’t be screaming like his sister because he’s not actually afraid and, if he was, it’s not as much as his sister was. “I thought owls are supposed to be sleeping in the morning and awake at night?”
“Those are bats, you idiot.”
The boy turned to her. “It’s actually both of them, noona.”
The girl mimicked his words mockingly. “Then why did you ask?”
And for a moment, as if there wasn’t a random animal that had burst in during their mealtime, they glared at each other in typical sibling fashion.
The father in the household was rolling up the newspaper he was reading and preparing himself to shoo the bird or owl or whatever it was away, but the mother shakily held her hand out. “I think it’s holding something.”
The owl looked like it knew what they were talking about and, at the mother’s words, dropped the package it was holding. Before anyone could do anything else, the owl went to steal a piece of bread from the table and flew off through the window it had used earlier.
After a moment of stunned silence, the boy, who was closest to the owl the entire time, moved to pick up the package to find that it was an envelope. He was about to hand it to his parents for them to look at, but he froze at the words that he read.
“What is it?” The girl asked as she hurried around the table to peer over his shoulder. “What? Why is it addressed to you?”
“What do you mean?” The father asked as the entire family moved closer to gather around the envelope in the little boy’s hands. “What is this?”
The 11-year-old boy’s complete name was written in such pretty writing, along with their house’s full address and even the fact that the smallest bedroom was his. Everyone read it several times as if failing to completely understand why an owl had flown in and just dropped a letter with their youngest’s complete details.
The boy nervously turned the envelope around and found a fancy red wax seal and a crest embedded in it.
“Hogwarts?” Hyukjae read the word from the crest with a look of confusion on his face. “What’s Hogwarts?”
- The first part of the fic will mostly be focused on Yesung. Later on, it will focus on Hyukjae :)
- Updates aren’t consistent but an estimate of 10 chapters
- I will use hyung/oppa/noona/unnie once in a while purely because I’ve gotten used to it as a part of their names. But other than that, teachers will be called professors and all other words will be in English.
- This is vaguely set in the post-HP era, original HP characters will be barely used, except for some professors. I won’t delve into post-battle things, this is meant to be a generally lighthearted Hogwarts AU fic for Yehyuk. (main side pair: Teukchul)
- Possible trigger warnings will be placed at the start of each chapter
