Love & SEOUL

Hyuna took a deep breath as she dialed Jessi's number for a video chat, her heart pounding in her chest. As soon as Jessi picked up, Hyuna broke down in tears, pouring out all of her fears and insecurities to her.

Jessi listened intently, her voice full of concern. "Hyuna, I know it's hard," she said softly. "But you have to remember that Dawn was there for you through everything. He loved you, and he wanted what was best for you."

Hyuna nodded slowly, wiping away her tears. "I know," she said, her voice barely above a whisper. "But sometimes it is really hard to tell the difference between love and gratitude."

Jessi sighed, understanding the depth of Hyuna's dilemma. "I got it, girl," she said. "But you have to trust your heart. And your heart led you to Dawn for a reason."

Hyuna took a deep breath, her mind racing with thoughts and doubts. "But what about Hyunseung?" she asked, her voice shaking. "He was always there for me too."

Jessi's voice softened. "Hyuna, I know you have a history with Hyunseung. But you have to remember that he moved on. You have to do the same."

Hyuna felt a sense of sadness wash over her as she thought back to her breakup with Hyunseung. It had been so painful, and it had taken her years to even begin to heal. But she had never forgotten the way that he made her feel, the way that he understood her in a way that no one else ever had.

Jessi's voice brought her back to the present. "Hyuna, remember when you were hospitalized in 2016?" she asked. "That was when you were first diagnosed with depression and panic disorder. But look at you now. You have come so far, and you have so much to be proud of."

Hyuna took a deep breath, feeling a sense of gratitude towards Jessi. "Thank you," she said softly. "I needed to hear that."

"Anytime, girl. You know I am always there for you."

Hyuna took a deep breath before speaking. "It wasn’t just about the breakup with Hyunseung," she said, her voice shaking slightly. "It was also about 4Minute disbanding and the way Junghyun and the other members of BEAST treated Hyunseung. He left the group in April 2016, and it was really hard for him. I felt like I had lost a part of myself too."

Jessi listened attentively, "I didn't realize it was that bad," she said softly.

Hyuna nodded, tears filling her eyes. "It was really hard for both of us," she said. "And then 4Minute disbanded just a few months later. I felt like everything was falling apart."

"But that's why you needed to move on, Hyuna," she said gently. "You had been dating Dawn since May 2016, and he had been there for you through all of this. He loved you and wanted what was best for you."

Hyuna took a deep breath, thinking about Jessi's words. She knew that Jessi was right. She couldn't let her past define her, and she needed to focus on what she had now with Dawn.

Hyuna sighed, feeling torn. "I know," she said. "But I can't help how I feel. Hyunseung has always been there for me, even when things were at their worst. I don't know if I can just forget about him and move on."

Jessi flashed an understanding smile,  "I understand, Hyuna. But you can't keep holding onto the past like this. You need to focus on what's in front of you, on your future with Dawn."

Hyuna nodded slowly, feeling a sense of clarity wash over her. "You're right," she said. "I need to let go of the past and focus on the present. I have Dawn, and he loves me. That's what matters."

Jessi smiled at her, proud of her for taking this step. "That's the spirit, girl," she said. "You've got this.”

Hyuna hung up as Dawn arrived at the door.  He took off his shoes and rushed towards Hyuna. Hyuna put on a smile, trying to hide the turmoil inside. They greeted each other with hugs, and Dawn immediately asked how she's feeling. Hyuna assured him that she's okay now, but Dawn could see through her facade.

"Hyuna," he says softly, "I know something's been bothering you. Please tell me what's going on."

Hyuna hesitated  for a moment, her mind racing with thoughts of Hyunseung. But as she looked into Dawn's eyes, she knew that she couldn't keep everything bottled up inside. She took a deep breath and began to explain.

"It's just...everything feels so overwhelming," she said, her voice barely above a whisper. "I've been struggling with my depression again, and I don't know how to deal with it."

Dawn nodded understandingly, his expression full of concern. "Is there anything I can do to help? You know I just leave downstairs from you."

Hyuna shook her head, feeling guilty for what she's about to say next. "I think...I think I need some time to figure things out. To be on my own for a while. Write some songs."

Dawn's eyes widened in surprise, but he didn't protest. He knew that Hyuna could take care of herself, no matter how difficult it may be for him.

"Okay," he said softly. "I understand. Just remember that I'm here for you, no matter what."

Hyuna gave him a small smile, feeling a sense of gratitude towards him. But as they took selcas together, she couldn't help but feel like she was overcompensating, trying to hide her true feelings for Hyunseung.

As she scrolled through the photos on her phone later that night, she knew that she needed to be honest with herself. She needed to confront her feelings for Hyunseung and figure out what she truly wanted out of life, even if it meant risking everything.

Hyuna posted the selcas of her and Dawn on her Instagram, along with a heartfelt caption expressing her love for him. She wrote, "I'm so grateful to have you by my side. Thank you for always being my rock and for making me feel loved and supported. I love you more than words can express."

While many fans were overjoyed to see the couple still going strong and expressing their love for each other, others criticized the public display of affection as being too much.

One netizen wrote, "I love you both, but this is too much. Please keep your private moments private." Another added, "I don't think it's appropriate to share this kind of thing on social media."

Some commenters wrote, "You guys are so cute together!" and "I love seeing your love for each other." However, others expressed their disapproval, saying that the selcas were too intimate and should not be shared with the public.

Despite the backlash, there were still many fans who defended Hyuna and Dawn's decision to share their love on social media. One fan wrote, "It's their choice to share their love in whatever way they want. We shouldn't judge them for it."

Despite the criticism, Hyuna continued to post photos with Dawn together on social media, showing that their love was still going strong.

Hyunseung sat nervously in front of his computer screen, waiting for his management team to join the online Zoom meeting. He had spent weeks perfecting his latest song, pouring his heart and soul into every lyric and melody. But he knew that the song's provocative message might not sit well with everyone in the industry.

Finally, the team joined the call, each member appearing in a small box on his screen. Hyunseung took a deep breath and began to play the song for them, his heart pounding in his chest.

After he finished, there was a long silence as the team members considered the song. Finally, one of them spoke up.

"I'm not sure about this, Hyunseung. The lyrics are quite soulful and could be seen as off-putting some of our fans. It might be better to play it safe and stick to more traditional K-pop sounds."

Hyunseung felt a wave of disappointment wash over him. He had been so sure that this song was his best work yet, and now his own management team was trying to hold him back.

"I understand your concerns," he said, trying to keep his voice steady. "But this song is true to who I am as an artist. I believe in the message I'm trying to convey, and I don't want to compromise my art for the sake of playing it safe."

There was another pause as the team members considered his words. Finally, one of them spoke up again.

"We hear you, Hyunseung. But you have to understand that this could potentially harm your career. The industry is very competitive, and we don't want to risk losing fans or damaging your reputation."

Hyunseung took a deep breath and looked directly at his team through the screen. "I appreciate your concern, but I'm willing to take that risk. I believe in this song, and I believe in myself as an artist. Please give me the chance to show what I can do."

There was another long pause before the team members began to nod their heads in agreement. "Alright, Hyunseung," one of them said. "We'll support your decision, but just be prepared for any potential backlash."

Hyunseung felt a weight lift off his shoulders as he thanked his team and ended the call. He knew that he had a lot of work ahead of him, but he was ready to take on the challenge and show the world what he was capable.

Hyuna sat at her desk, pen in hand, trying to come up with the perfect lyrics for her new song. She knew she wanted to write something empowering, something that would inspire her fans to be true to themselves and not worry about what others thought of them.

As she scribbled down ideas, her mind kept going back to her own struggles with public perception. She had always been criticized for being too bold, too daring, too different from the typical K-pop idol. But she refused to conform, and instead embraced her individuality.

With that in mind, Hyuna began to write the first lines of her new song, "I say I don't care, I don't care about what others think." She felt a surge of pride and confidence as she wrote those words, knowing that they were true to herself and her beliefs.

As she continued to write, Hyuna drew inspiration from her idol, Marilyn Monroe, who had also faced harsh criticism and judgment for being herself. Hyuna aspired to be like her, to be confident and unapologetic in her own skin.

Hours passed as Hyuna poured her heart and soul into the song, tweaking the lyrics and melody until it felt just right. And finally, as she read over the final version of the song, she knew that she had created something special, something that would resonate with her fans and hopefully inspire them to be their own kind of beautiful.

She smiled to herself, feeling a sense of fulfillment and accomplishment. With her new song, Hyuna had once again proven that she was not afraid to be herself, no matter what others may say or think.

After finishing the song, Hyuna knew she had to share it with someone who would understand her vision. She immediately called Psy, her longtime mentor and friend, and played the song for him over the phone

Hyuna let out a sigh of relief after hearing Psy's feedback. "Thank you so much, Psy. I really needed to hear that," she said gratefully.

"You're welcome, Hyuna. You know I've always believed in you and your talent. This song is no exception," Psy replied.

Hyuna smiled. "I'm so glad you like it. I just hope the fans will too, even if it's a departure from my usual style."

Psy chuckled. "Don't worry about that. Your fans love you for who you are, and this song is just another part of your evolution as an artist."

Hyuna nodded, feeling reassured. "You're right. I need to take risks and push boundaries if I want to continue growing and evolving as an artist."

"Exactly," Psy agreed. "And I have no doubt that this song will do just that. So go ahead, let’s have the composers and arrangers take a look and release it, Hyuna. You have my full support."

"Thank you, Psy. I really appreciate it," Hyuna said with a smile.

"Of course, my dear. That's what mentors are for," Psy replied warmly.

Hyuna hung up the phone feeling grateful for Psy's guidance and support. With renewed confidence, she knew that she was ready to release the song and share her message with the world.
