In the year 2012, a young teenager by the name of Kim Jongwoon lives what many call an average life. He is merely another student who goes to school, hangs out with his friends, sometimes rebel against his teachers and parents, and also, has crushes on girls. Jongwoon has learnt throughout the course of his life, from a self-centered young kid to a relatively more mature teenager, that he is just like any other guy his age, that he has to work for what he wants and that the world does not revolve around him.

In the year 2092, a good eighty years after the apocalypse, the team of scientists who rooted from the scarce survivors of the great calamity of 2012 finally completed the greatest project they had been working on for the near past century. Ever since the apocalypse had wiped out nearly the entire world, the meager number of varying people, who lived just barely, came together and educated themselves further with leftover materials. Instead of rebuilding the fallen world, they decided to coop themselves up in a safe haven where they worked on finding out what exactly brought about the "end of the world" and preventing it from ever happening again.

Creating a virtual world that mimicked the times of the twenty years before 2012, they start their attempt to find the ultimate catalyst that had caused the deadly apocalypse in 2012 by placing their first test-subject into the simulated reality.

Kim Jongwoon.

The year 2012 brought about the ultimate death of the world, wiping out nearly every single organism on the planet. However, there were, much too fortunately, human survivors who banded together to recover and protect themselves from the lethal, toxic wasteland Earth has devolved into. Throughout this course of time, these survivors became scientists that teamed together to find the cause of the disaster that killed their loved ones, their friends and their home. Thus came the establishment of The Catalyst, a project designed to search the origin of the apocalypse. After years of researching and experimenting, the team of scientists crafted a virtual world, stable enough for a human being to "live in" using his mental state. The human chosen would exist in the simulated reality in terms of mentality, and his physical state will be left dormant in the real world. Starting from 1992, the human will be placed in as an infant and grow over the years till 2012, giving the scientists a span of twenty years to observe for the ultimate catalyst.

Hence, came the sole living existence of Kim Jongwoon in the virtual imitation of earth a century ago.
