Let Me Go

Description

The light flushed a crimson red, giving the sign to cross the busy crowded street. What she didn't note was the fact that a white pick up was heading down her way. It was one step, a small step that would lead to her untimely death or at least that what the driver expected.

A strong grip on the young woman's arm pulled her back toward the sidewalk into slim arms. The pick up blared the horn as he raced past the crowd of shocked faces. The woman felt the noise reach her ears as the ear buds fell from her ears.

"Are you alright?" A husky voice filled with concern asked from above her. She swallowed hard and nodded with a small bob of her head.

"Yes ... I didn't see it coming."

The young boy chuckled and she looked up surprised. Pale skin was framed by soft golden curls. The young man's eyes were the like the color of chocolate, but there was something odd about them. They were clouded with a white tint.  He held a black cane tightly in the hand that wasn't already holding her arm.

"I didn't either."
