I knew what I was, knew what I liked. However, I also knew my parents don't approve. I didn't have to ask them to find out. With a mention of it on television or on the street, they would cringe and look away.

I don't see how they didn't figure it out already. I hadn't ever been on a date in my life, and all the boys I saw in private didn't like being private. So I was basically out of experience. Any relationships I were able to get didn't last long.
