It was until that moment that they were together that he realized how much he loved her. The way her eyes sparkled as they talked about her favorite food, the way she looked out the window, as she was deep in thought, the way she laughed at his small corny jokes, those were the small things he loved about her. Although these small things weren’t the only reason why he loved her; it was everything about her from her simple smile to her most inner thoughts. He had found them all beautiful. How come it took me this long to realize this? He thought, as he looked her.

            “Why are you staring at me like that?” She shot him a questioning look. “Is there something on my face?”

            “No.” He laughed quietly.

            “Liar, there is.” She pointed and smiled. “I’ll be right back, jerk!” She stood up and smacked his arm as she went to the bathroom.

After he took another sip of his coffee, he realized it was time. It was time for him to go, time for him to leave. He searched through his pockets to find a letter along with an engagement ring; he then placed them down on the table before walking out of the coffee shop.

Even though this may be one of the most regretful things he has done in his life, he knew he was doing the right thing. He had to let her go, because she was already in love. He didn’t want to get in the way and make things harder for her even though he knew how much this was going to hurt him. But, he pushed the pain aside; for the only thought that was on his mind was that he had a chance to remember their love.
