Black flies on the window sill,
That we are…to know.
We were like black flies flying above the window sill, attracted to the bright nature standing right before us but caught behind the transparent window that held us back from our escape. Trapped in that closed environment together for a long time, we become older, grew together, and we got to know one another. Before we knew it, winter was already fleeting by, and we were still flying, still staring at that window of transitory, versatile seasons.
Winter stole summer’s thrill. The river’s cracked and cold.
One surprising day though, that window opened for us, and we quickly fled with a short farewell, flying about in various directions to different destinations.
How cruel was that? Being put into the same building to learn and make friends, but in the end of it all, we all went our own ways to our own dreams. What was the point of these friendships made in these fourteen years of our lives? They became memories, just recollections and reminiscences of our friends’ faces.
School was unfair.
In the end, there wasn’t a friend I kept. We became scattered, tied down, hopeless, too hopeful; we became empty, lost, regretful, self-doubting, alone.
