Chapter 2: “As if I was sleeping, I woke up but…”

The same day, Your POV :

Why things are suddenly so dark? Am I sleeping? What a weird dream… No, no, no! I was doing something earlier with my friend! I can’t be sleeping right now! Oh… but it may be possible… I may am so excited to live this day that I dreamt it before? Still that I’m not convinced. Yah! ____, stop thinking, someone’s talking!

- « Do you really think she moved? »
- « I swear! Didn’t you feel the wave of magic power earlier? It’s her! » Magic... power? O...kay...
- « Yah, Jin Ki! I have no time with your jokes! You can be the one who has done this! »
- « I’m not that powerful! Come on! »
- « Why are you so stubborn when it comes to the traitor!? »
- « Don’t call her this way! »
- « That’s what she is! A coward and a traitor! »
- « Yah, stop it Kim Ki Bum! I will no longer endure this! I’ve not take her to this place so we could argue again. So you better calm down now. Plus, what could happen if I’m wrong? »
- « What could happen? YOU ARE actually ASKING!? Aish... Do you really remember who she is? »
- « I do… but it’s for her sake »
- « No need to argue with you, you’re totally stubborn… »
- « That’s our duty… »
- « I said and you said it was no need to argue. Let’s drop this topic and prove me you’re right then. »

Enough… I admit it, I am totally freaking out. What should I do? Those people talking, this Jin Ki and that Ki Bum seem to be mad people… “Magic power”? Whatever! So… What to do? Escape? Yeah that’s it, but I have to do it with intelligence.
It seemed to be pretty calm suddenly. They may have left. That’s my chance, let’s run away from here, no matter how they bring me here and where I am. But first, I should open my eyes… Haha… easy! How could I forget this? … … … Wait… Why can’t I move? Even my eyes seem to be as heavy as a rock stone. My body… it is so heavy… I do not feel okay. Has something happened to me? Here I am, I finally open my eyes and…

- « AAH » short scream, but long and loud enough to express my feelings.

In front of me, or should I say, over me, two big heads… Their eyes were studying me… God! I know! I’ve been kidnapped by aliens! NO WAY! I will not give my body!

- « See! See Ki Bum! She’s awake… ____ is awake! Told you! »
- « No… no way… ____ really woke up… How come? »

Wait. They do know my name? How? I don’t know them… God, my body is shaking. At least, it means I can move. However, it was the only thing I dare to do, well, truth was I couldn’t help but shaking, afraid.

- « ____ are you okay? ____ do you hear me? Hey~ »
- « Who… who are you? » I managed to ask. They looked at each others and the brownish head guy smiled widely as he looked back at me.
- « Ki Bum! She is even talking now! I told you she would come back! »

UH? What is he talking about? And will he mind to answer my question?

- « Jin Ki… calm down. She’s talking, yeah but did you hear her question? » he had a stern look.

Thanks Mister Ki Bum I guess. Someone is listening to the poor me!

- « I heard… » the Jin Ki named boy said, his smile fading away from his cute squirrel face. « I guess it’s a normal question… » Of course it is! I don’t know you!
- « You think so? I don’t! Does it mean she doesn’t even remember us?! » he started to shout, looking mad. « I won’t stand it anymore, I’m leaving! Good bye ‘who-are-you’ absent minded girl » he spitted at me.
- « What? » I mouthed, shocked as he disappeared. I just heard a door shutting hard and Jin Ki sighing.
- « So, he wouldn’t change his mind…? Even after your comeback… I am sorry ____. You really don’t remember about me? Well… about us? » he asked calmly, helping me sitting up.

I frowned as I calmed down a bit, he seemed gentle after all, I’m not going to yell at him.

- « Sorry to be rude but… should I? » his stare ran away from my eyes, did I saw sadness? « Plus where am I? Why am I here? Where are my mother, Andrea and Thibault? »
- « Thibault? Andrea? You remember about them? » he asked, interested.
- « Yes, they’re my best friends! Do you know them? Where are they? » I asked, finally hoping to see them.
- « Yes, I knew them… They left here a long time ago now… So you can guess they’re not here. »
- « What? They left? God… what’s going on? » I started to freak out again.
- « Shhh… Calm down, I’ll explain you everything okay? » What’s up to people with their “everything” to tell me, eh? « You need to rest now. My name’s Lee Jin Ki but people call me Onew. I’m your friend ____ so don’t worry! Just try to get some sleep and… »
- « I don’t want to sleep! » I said, frightened. The last time I closed my eyes, everything changed… I don’t want to close them anymore… at least, I want to understand first.
- « Okay shhh, just stay calm down, okay? Don’t worry… I’ll be here anytime you need me, just call me. Don’t move out of your bed as well hum? Take care of you, that’s all you've got to do. »

He was going to moved his hand towards my face but stopped it and stood up awkwardly, smiling weakly.

- « I’ll be going just some minutes, I’ll be back right after. Trus me. »

When he left (with a last reassuring smile), I felt really lonely and lost. Even if I knew him for some minutes, I wanted him to come back and stay with me… I was afraid. Even if everything seemed to be nice, well... everything but this hot-blooded Ki Bum! Yes, the room was filled with sunlight as there was a big window. Actually, there was even a balcony. The rest of the room was nice, with a nice wallpaper… It was really old-fashioned, as if we were back in Middle Age but it was really beautiful. I realized then the size of “my” bed. It was so big. Actually, I felt like a princess… Just watching those things calm me down a bit and took my thoughts off of the situation.

Onew POV:

I rested a bit, leaning on the door of ____-ah's room. It was crazy. I felt so happy, so complete, so... so well but I had a lot to do now she was back in here.

- « Ki Bum-ah… What are we going to do? »
- « You’re the one who brought her here, so you’re the one who should know, don’t you think? »
- « Aish… » but Key was right… « All I know is that we have to let the master know about it. Anyway, he may already know it… If Master does, there is lots of chances that « He » does as well… »

Key, who was looking away before, finally turned his head towards me, frowning his brows.

- « When you say « He » you mean…? » he didn’t end his question but I was already nodding.
- « Well, can I let you deliver a message to Master? I promise ____ I’ll come back right after a little talk… » I asked as if I wasn’t expecting a “no” anyway.
- « It's okay, I’ll do it but… Jin Ki… Hyung, even though I know you’re happy about this… it’s going to make lots of troubles. Here but also in the other world where ____ were before coming back here… » I closed my eyes…

I just sighed and looked at him before leaving the central room of my mansion. Again, Key was right and I knew it already but… I didn’t care. ____ was back. Why couldn’t I just enjoy this at least some minutes? Of course, she didn’t remember about me but I didn’t care as well, as long as she is there, it sounded okay to me. From the day she went away with that boy, I’ve not spend a day without missing her. In my room, there still is this moving pictures of her, Key and me. Our smiles… Her smile… I missed all this pictures was showing: happiness. From that day, smiling wasn’t meaning anything but politeness to me. Thanks to Key, I kept smiling and hoping…
When you think about it, it’s strange. The more he was trying to forget her, the more I was willing to remember about ____ and a smile, a real one would appear. I guess it’s because I wanted him to admit he missed her as much as I did. He never admit it though.
Now she’s here… I don’t want to enjoy only this old picture of us, I want to live this moment again… At least just once again. I don’t want to have to remember about her only, I want to feel her by my side, that’s all… Never again feeling the pain of being left…

¤ Flashback on ¤

- « ____ don’t leave, there must be another solution! Trust me! » I told her, grasping her by the shoulders.
- « Is your solution to die? » She shouted at me.
- « Don’t you just trust me? » I plaided as if I was going to cry.
- « Of course I trust you… »
- « So don’t leave us… » …deep inside, I was thinking ‘Don’t leave me’ but I couldn’t say it out loud.
- « I’ll never leave you, you know it. Even if I have to go away with no other choice left, I would come back to you guys. That’s a promise! » she answered with a little smile.

I believed her. I always will. But the day after this scene, I forgot it… When I got into her room, she was nowhere in sight. Just a letter on the pillow, and that was how she bid our goodbyes. "I didn’t lie Oppa. I didn’t…” but my mind was only saying ‘no, you did’. When I reached the place where she was supposed to leave, she was with "him"… this white haired boy… How I hated him for being the one leaving with her, their hands together… That was my last image of her… You can tell I was heartbroken. At this time, I was like Key. For me, ____ was a traitor and left just in order to be happy with Thibault. I guess I was really jealous she chose him over us... over me. But slowly I remembered her words… and my love for her as well. It may be cheesy… But anyway I knew she had her reason.

¤ Back to present ¤

When I reached the room she was resting in, I feared she would have skipped. After all, it was as if I was a stranger to her even if I’m not. I entered the room, slowly and lifted up my head to look at her. She was standing at the desk. I couldn’t help but smile widely: she hasn’t left.

- « Told you that you shouldn’t stand up… » I said, that smile stuck on my lips and she slightly jumped.

I guess she was still too weak to control correctly her body and flinched… I just ran - thanks to my powers - towards her, sliding my arm around her waist to prevent her from falling on the floor. Slowly lifting her so she would stand back on his feet… But everything blocked. I just dared to look into her surprised yet tired eyes, melting. I just forgot everything, I was lost in those eyes… they haven’t change for a bit, innocent chocolate eyes, always shining as if someone collected stars and put them into her eyes. I didn’t know how long I stayed like this but I finally snapped back to reality.

- « Uh… sorry, I was just thinking… You haven’t change, so stubborn and clumsy ____ » I tried to smile again as I helped her sit down on the bed, sitting beside her.
- « So you really do know me… eh? » I just nodded.
- « Sorry but everything seem to be like a dream… it’s hard to believe. » She said, looking down.
- « I’m glad… » I stated all of the sudden, feeling her eyes on me « You were able to walk but didn’t leave »
- « I've been waiting for you to come back, you said you would so… Plus, I’m too weak for a long walk » she explained.
- « You waited for me? » It was a shock for me.
- « Yes… I guess because your calm and nice, and I need someone to believe… I decided to trust you. »

She chose to trust me? Did you know ____ that I wanted to hug you at this moment? I was trying hard to not smile foolishly, but for the first time for ages, I’m smiling because I’m happy…

Your POV:

It was like waking up somewhere else and having the feeling that your still dreaming. Was it really the reality? I remember now the accident. What if I’m making all of this up? I heard that when people are in coma, they sometimes make up worlds and stories. So… Am I in a coma or...? Am I dead?

No One’s POV:

Just at this moment, when you were thinking so deeply, your belly started to grumble… Onew chuckled a bit, standing up as he said he was going to bring you something to eat, adding that you've always been a eater, which was quite right.

- « Is chicken okay? I just have chicken to eat... » he mumbled, turning pink.

You nodded with a smile but your mind was somewhere else. You touched your belly: if it wasn’t the reality, how come your belly was really hurting you? Connection to what was happening in the other world or… it’s definitively the reality as well?

Bonus:Onew and Key descriptions!

Onew
Onew, alias Lee Jin Ki.
He is actually really old, but in this world, if you are 200 years old, you’re a young man. Actually, he’s not even 100 years.
He owns a huge mansion by himself. Well, he’s supposed to be by himself but Key is almost always here. He feels easily lonely but manages to handle it when he is.
Jin Ki is always smiling, which make him look younger and even cuter.
He has known you since he’s 22, you were 18-19.
He didn’t really remember when he fell in love with you… He went through lots of years, so even those things happened to be forgotten. Plus, it happened slowly.
He’s Key’s cousin. They’re really close and get along well together, even if it looks like sometimes Key acts too rude for someone as calm and thoughtful as Onew. But they actually like this difference between them.
The fact is that Onew is too spontaneous and impulsive, he would do something all of the sudden without explaining.

 

Key
Key, alias Kim Ki Bum.
He’s almost as old as Jin Ki is, a year or so younger.
He doesn’t really like his name, because it’s too common. But you were calling him this way before you lost your memory. Just to . He liked it though but now…
He acts as if you’re the worst person and a traitor, but actually really wants to hug you and tell you that he missed you.
But he’s too hurt and proud for doing so.
He knows Onew loves you but has never told you or him he knew.
He met you by Onew, a year after you met him. You both have always argued a lot, teased each others etc…
He doesn’t like his house, so he keeps on visiting Onew and stays at his home for most of the time.
He likes way too much using his powers to prank people with Taemin!
