018: The Calm Before The Storm
Like Stars In the Sky
Doyeon tapped her pen on the table, everyone was being noisy around her. She really should have declined their offer to study together, because they weren't getting anything done. She'd figured they would be taking it more seriously, given that they had a test coming up. It was already the first week of November, winter was approaching, but it still very much felt like fall out. Doyeon groaned as she had to start from the beginning of a sentence once again, because her brain just would not absorb the information.
"Okay, why don't we all take a break?" Jeno said, standing up to stretch. "I've got to go pick Jun up from his playdate..." He trailed off, looking over at Doyeon, he waited for her to look up at him before speaking. "Do you want to come with?" He asked.
Doyeon weighed her options, she could either sit here and maybe get some studying in, or she could go and get some fresh air. She was already getting up onto her feet as she answered, "Sure." Jeno smiled as he led her towards the door.
When the door swung shut behind them, Haechan spoke. "It's something about those two." He chuckled, turning back to a game he'd been playing on his phone. Jaemin's eyebrows furrowed.
"What do you mean?" He asked, curiosity getting the best of him.
Haechan dramatically sighed, throwing his phone off to the side. "I mean, don't you guys think they're really close?" He asked. Haechan was a bit of a gossip, not ever in a rude way, but he did have a habit of jumping to conclusions then giving his opinion on said topics. None of the guys really had a problem with it, since Haechan always meant well when he shared his thoughts with them. But, sometimes it just seemed a bit too far fetched. As if he were looking for more than what was truly there.
"I guess," Chenle said, joining in on the conversation, "but I wouldn't say they're the closest or anything. I mean, I hang out with Doyeon just as much--if not more--than him." Jaemin nodded in agreement.
Mark jumped in, "I don't think you can necessarily measure how close she is to others, personally I think Doyeon's close to people in different ways." Everyone looked at him, beckoning him to continue. "Well, what I'm saying is; she obviously has some secrets, ones she keeps from all of us and ones she shares to some of us," he pointed at Jisung who'd accidentally alluded to Doyeon's past with bullies when he'd talked to everyone about his own. "I don't think she sees any of us in a different light." He concluded.
Jaemin thought about it, that seemed likely enough. Though, it was kind of odd to think about. Jaemin was especially close to Jeno and Mark, but he also was very close with all his other friends. But, in a bad situation he'd most likely go to one of them for help. Which led him to the question: who would Doyeon go to? It wasn't some type of competition, no, it was just plain wonder. He didn't have to be the closest to her, but he wanted to know how she felt towards them all. "I wish she was more open with us." He hadn't meant to say it out loud, but it was too late to take it back.
Jisung shrugged, "It takes time, I'm sure she'll tell us everything when she's ready."
Jaemin nodded absentmindedly, he'd come to that conclusion not long after he'd met her, but that didn't stop the growing curiosity he felt.

"See you guys Monday!" Jaemin hollered as he and Doyeon walked out of Jeno's house. The other guys had started a Smash Bros tournament, which Jaemin and Doyeon had both lost in the first and second round. Instead of sitting around waiting to see who won, Doyeon said she was going to head home and get some more studying done. Jaemin, not wanting to send her out at night alone, offered to walk back with her. He made the mistake of deciding to walk to Jeno's instead of drive; which wasn't a bad decision when the sun was up and it felt like it was in the late sixties, but now that the sun had set, it felt more like the late fifties, he regretted his decision a tad bit.
"Bye," Doyeon waved, right before the door slammed shut. She put the hood of her jacket up as they began walking, but it didn't make much of a difference; because she was starting to shiver a couple of minutes into the walk. A sudden weight on her shoulders made her head jerk up. Jae
