Good enough? 04

Extraordinary?

I sheepishly scratched the back of my neck and smiled.

"Hehe. Hi oppa."

"Say what?!" All the EXO members turned to me questioningly.

"Guys! Why the hell is my sister here? You're supposed to be in school Hye Sun!" Kris spoke sternly.

"Kris oppa! You're looking at the two of the newest trainees of SM Entertainment!" Sunji spoke up, giving Kris a one-armed hug.

"Really? You got in Mei? You're actually good enough?" Kris grunted jokingly.

"But good job though, and of course you too Sunji. When do you both start training?" Sunji pulled out the neatly folded piece of paper from her pocket and pointed to Tuesday.

"Tomorrow at 7.30 in the morning. Vocal and dance. Room 512!" All the EXO members' eyes widened in surprise, "You guys must be pretty talented, the class you're in is only for those trainees that are set to debut or those trainees that are really good!" Kyungsoo commented. I couldn't help but feel slightly proud after Kyungsoo's compliment and my cheeks pinked involuntarily.

"Well I guess we'll see you guys tomorrow! We need to get unpacked!", Sunji reminded as we walked towards our room. Night was approaching and Sunji and I decided to get an early nights sleep in preparation for tomorrow's class that was sure to be gruelling.

"Brinnngg!!!" My alarm clock rang. I immediately turned it off and sat up, having not slept a wink thanks to the butterflies beating wildly in my stomach throughout the night. I rubbed my tired eyes and decided to do some vocal practices for fear of making a fool of myself in class. Sunji was already up and dressed and as usual, she looked really good without even trying. She wore a crop top that revealed her flat stomach and navel piercing with a loose pair of hiphop pants and a high cut pair of Adidas. Even with no make up on, she looked absolutely stunning. I got ready in a flash and threw a snapback on my head to hide my messy hair before we both set off looking for Room 512 , V&D.

It turns out that both Sunji and I had no sense of direction whatsoever and we were almost 15 minutes late for our lesson. When we finally found the right door, I suggested that we play a game of scissors paper stone to decide on who had to knock. But Sunji just snorted at me and said, "What's wrong with you?", before easily knocking the door and walking in without waiting for a reply.

"Annyeonghaseyo!" Sunji beamed while she bowed.

"We're the new trainees!" I waved shyly and did a ninety-degree bow.

"Ahh there are the new trainees I've heard so much about! Which one of you is Sunji?" asked our male vocal coach. Sunji did a little wave and raised her hand.

"I've heard so much about you! I'm expecting a lot from you Sunji!"

"I won't let you down!"

I couldn't help but feel slightly miffed that my presence didn't even seem to be of any importance to anyone and I quietly took a seat at the corner of the room despite Sunji's complains.

"Well, it's a good day for new trainees to join us! Today happens to be the day of our monthly evaluations and of course we aren't expecting too much from you guys but it'd be great if y'all could showcase some of your talent! Our judges today will be the EXO boys."

As our teacher droned on, I took that chance to observe everyone in the room. We were in a co-ed class and there interestingly seemed to have more males then females. Many females were overdressed and had makeup caked on them. They seemed to be really excited when it was announced that the EXO boys were to judge us today. Unsurprisingly, I was scared out of my wits and I couldn't even form a coherent thought. The EXO boys walked in and gave us a small wave. We were given 15 minutes to practice a rap, a song or an instrumental piece before we had to showcase a performance. The 15 minutes flew past and as usual, even at the end of it, I felt unprepared and afraid.

"Up first, we'll have... JiYoon!" the teacher announced.

"Choose your competitor!" JiYoon smirked at Sunji and said, "I want her."

JiYoon probably thought that Sunji would be easy competition but oh did she have something in store for her.

"Since I picked you, I'll let you pick what you wish to compete in. Rap, vocals, dance or instruments?" JiYoon commented snarkily.

"Let's compete in all then." Sunji provoked, obviously annoyed at JiYoon's cocky attitude. Everyone gasped a little at Sunji's boldness.

"Fine let's begin! Let's have Sunji performing a freestyle rap!"

"You call me stupid and you call me naive
You tell me I'm a failure when I find it hard to breathe
I tell you my aspirations and all of my dreams
You just laugh and tell me my mind is bursting at the seams

I long for something I know I'll never get
I long for a future that I know will never be met
I see myself doing things, things I'd only ever wished
You just laugh and say if I was gone I would not be missed

Well I'm telling you right here right now
You can think what you want but I'm not backing down
I know what I want and I'm gonna get it
You'll see me at the top I swear let's bet on it

I told you I'd run far and you thought you'd see me slip
I'm telling you that's not happening, I was just preparing for a flip
I'll make you take back all the words you once said
I'll be at the top and you'd wish you were dead

You'll regret not having been a friend of mine
I can't blame you, you didn't know that I would make it big and shine
The bell's gone, time's up, go back into your shade
Though I'd probably advice you not to, because in the shade you fade

It won't make a difference though since you're already so small
But I probably should thank you, for me making me seem so tall.
So goodbye I guess, this is it my dear friend.
I'll be the one waving and clapping when I beat you at the end."

Everyone was blown away. Everyone. Even the rappers, Chanyeol and Kris, were amazed.

"Wow." I heard murmurs in the crowd. JiYoon was obviously nervous and said, "How about we just do vocals, dance and instruments? Rapping really isn't my forte."

"Whatever." Sunji replied. "It's not gonna do you any good anyways."

JiYoon stepped forward and performed her own rendition of the song "Rolling in the deep" by Adele. Undoubtedly, she was really good but after overhearing that she had been a trainee for 6 years already, I really expected much more from her. After JiYoon was done, Sunji walked up and took over the mic.

"I'll be performing 'I will always love you.' One of my favourite songs, sung by Whitney Houston." Once again, simultaneous gasps ran through the audience. It was no secret that singing "I Will Always Love You" well was no easy feat. But even just singing the first verse, it was obvious that Sunji was so much better. I was so proud of her.

"Whatever. That's not important. Can you dance though?" JiYoon immediately jumped to the front and danced to the song "24 hours" by Sunmi. Following the choreography exactly and changing nothing aside from groping herself rather obscenely. Sunji seem disturbed and she slightly scoffed before looking away. I couldn't help but laugh. I sneaked a glance at the EXO members and saw that they were quite disgusted by the live they were watching. After the song ended, JiYoon striked a cocking pose and smirked as if to say "I win."

"Sunji are you okay with competing in dance? I know I only told you all to prepare for vocal, rap and instruments." The teacher asked.

"Well, I'll just do it freestyle then. I'll be fine!" Sunji commented freely.

"Which song would you like Sunji?" Kai asked since he was the one sitting closest to the MP3 player.

After pausing for only a second, Sunji asked, "Do you have Midnight Request Line? By Skream?"

"Sunji, you know that's a Dubstep song right?" Kai questioned in amazement.

"Yep! I really like Dubstep! Just go ahead and play it!"

"I think I've met my soulmate." I heard Kai whisper to Baekhyun with a cheesy smile on his face.

As the music began, Sunji completely showed up JiYoon. She popped and danced like never before as she performed intricate steps and difficult flips. Sunji's performance was full of real talent that was so palpable whereas JiYoon's was flooded with R-rated signs.

"URGH fine no one can beat me at piano! I just know it." JiYoon stomped angrily.

"Well, I don't even play piano." Sunji retorted before taking a seat at the drumset in the corner.

"This girl. Is so. Bloody. Amazing." I heard Kai whisper excitedly after his new discovery that Sunji played the drums.

"I should do a drum duet with her!" Chanyeol squealed excitedly.

Why was I even here in the first place? I am obviously nowhere near as talented.

JiYoon then started playing an extremely difficult piece on the piano. "The flight of the Bumblebee", was what it was called. JiYoon really did excel at piano. She was so great that even I was slightly intimidated. But I knew that Sunji could do so much better. After JiYoon was done, a round of applause could be heard resonating throughout the whole room.

"Beat that." She challenged proudly.

"Oh yeah I was planning to." Sunji replied cheerfully before taking out a pair of drumsticks from her bag.  The class chanted "one two three four" excitedly, cueing Sunji's start.

Of course, she was brilliant. Was there anything this girl wasn't good at? She performed impressive rolls as beads of sweat trickled down her forehead just from the sheer force of her playing. Anyone could tell at one glance that she really loved what she was doing. As she ended off with a literal "crash!", she took a bow and thanked all of us. We all gave her a standing ovation and it was hard to believe that it was her first day of being a trainee.

"I think we have an obvious winner right guys?" Suho voiced out as the leader. All the EXO members nodded, "Sunji! You deserve it!"

Damn! Sunji is just daebak isn't she? ;)

Well, I kinda think Jiyoon deserves it tho, so cocky :(

Okay wow I'm actually cursing at my own character ><

Chapter 14: I realised (no offense) buut hye sun isnt coming out as much as sunji in the story. Is it possible to give hye sun more parts as i think her story is very interesting as it depicts the emotions she felt like betrayal, inferiority and others. not saying that sunji's story is boring though is just that in my opinion i think hye sun story needs more 'colour' and i feel that exo should know what they are doing to poor hye sun. i guess as putting myself in hye suns shoes really made me feel that she is gtreated pretty badly and if i were her i would have disliked sunji and exo (hate is such a strong word) as sunji kept on spending more time with exo instead of her own friend and not thinking about the expectations she raised in hye sun's mind. like hye sun has to think, dance, practice like a thousand times harder adn people would tink that she still does not make the cut like she can never be as good as sunji. Thats just my opinion though no offense. i mean sometimes i also feel inferior to others i guess. i think its because i can relate to her well.

Chapter 14: when will hye sun going to appear? I totally agree, sunji IS her bestfriend yet she's always with EXO without even inviting her....
And I thought hye Sun is kris' Sister? Why not approach her to accompany her, right?

Chapter 13: I can't wait to hear more from hye sun... Idk why, but Sunji is kind of self centered and it irks me a little that she's so flippant about her friend who she's up and left behind... Maybe hye sun and Kai should get together then....

Chapter 8: i think that its really great that you decided to adopt the profile of the average trainee because many stories tend to over exaggerate the capabilities of the main character! its very different and its definitely caught my interest :-)

im not too fond of people pitying themselves but i think it would be interesting to see the character development and her growth as the story progresses :-) i hope she picks herself up soon !!!!!

Chapter 6: Update more if you have time ^^ if I were Hye Sun, I'll just do my best just to reach my dreams,
I wish that there will be someone out of Exo/trainees/group from other companies like Got 7, Big bang, Bangtan Boys, 2ne1, ailee who will comfort her and make the people around her realize that she has that something inside her that is brilliant
