Foreword
Call Me JB Hyung
The way we met was slightly out of ordinary - like something off of a drama.
Whenever I think about it, I don't really remember why I didn't walk past Jaebum hyung like everyone else was doing.
It was just another day for me. I left home to go out for a walk and stop by a cafe for an Americano. It was just another day but also not just another day.
As I approached the cafe, I was stopped by a guy standing in front of the cafe doors, staring at his phone. He was dressed in all black - really dressed up with nice black dress shoes and a large scarf blocking the lower part of his face from the cold air.
He held a small red box in one hand while he stared at his phone.
Instantly I thought-
Does he know that he's blocking the door?
With this thought in mind, in the end, I opened my mouth.
I wondered why he was just standing there. So without thinking, and extremely out of character-
"Excuse me." I said.
No budge. The first try didn't work. The guy continued staring right at his phone, lost in his own little world.
What are you doing right now Choi Youngjae? Do you want to get beat up?
"Excuse me. I want to go in." I said again. Even if my thoughts told me not to.
The guy still didn't move. So really out of character, I tapped his shoulder.
"Excuse me." I said louder.
I stared as the guy slowly lifted his head and looked at me. With this small movement, I caught a glimpse of what he was staring at on his phone.
A message.
Three simple words.
Let's break up.
When I finally saw why the guy was standing in the cold, still staring at his phone, I stepped back.
The guy just stared at me, with what looked like a glare.
I stared back, mentally yelling at myself.
It was like a game. It took me more seconds than it should have to look away, and when I did, I apologized quickly and pushed by the glaring guy straight into the cafe.
My heart began beating even before I pushed past him. Mumbling to myself about how stupid I am, I made my way straight to some seats further back into the cafe where I wouldn't be found.
When I finally found a seat, I ordered a small cup of coffee and sat down, trying to forget everything that just happened, and hoping the cafe guy outside forgot it all too.
I didn't dare look back to see if the guy was still outside, but the message I saw on the guy's phone made me wonder who could break up with someone who was standing outside in the freezing cold waiting for who knows how long.
The whole time in the cafe I wondered why the guy didn't at least come inside to warm up. He looked like he was waiting outside for a long time.
I even saw his hands shaking and the tips of his ears very red before I ran away.
If I was that guy and my girlfriend broke up with me suddenly just when I'm standing outside in the cold waiting for her, then I would just give it up and at least come inside to get something to drink.
I sighed loudly, thinking about the guy again.
If this was a drama he would be called pitiful.
I slowly turned around and stretched out to see if he was still standing outside, but I couldn't really see.
In the end, I found out.
When I finally left the cafe and cautiously walked outside, I discovered that the guy was gone.
