"You don’t get to choose if you get hurt in this world, but you do have a say in who hurts you. And I like my choices. I hope she likes hers." - Augustus Waters, The Fault In Our Stars
Bora is confronted. "if that doesn't happen, well," Minji chuckled without humor, "I guess that's something we're both going to have over..."
“Unnie, it's Bora-unnie again.” Minji sighed and got her car out to go where Siyeon told her to fetch their friend. Again. How many times had it been this week? Three? Four? The woman was used to this by now. Her eyes caught the glaring digits on the car’s console: 2:34am. Seriously Kim Bora, couldn't you be drunk sooner?
“Siyeon, I have a question,” Bora asked during their lunch. “How do you know if it's a crush and not just friendship?” - “Is this about you and Minji-unnie?” [Jibo on a Coffee Date. Inspired by Sua's recent instagram update. | cross-posted on ao3]
The world is ending but Bora only needs one more second. Just one more second to tell Minji how she really feels.
Then Minji remembers her plane ticket tucked in the middle of the passport inside her bag. She remembers the silver luggage she hasn't locked yet in her room. She remembers how many things she wished to bring along, but she couldn't. And she hates the fact that these heavy suffocated feelings for her best friend are one of them.
Based on this prompt: Minji looks at Bora and gently cups their face to examine it. Bora is a little confused and asks what's Minji doing. 'Hold on, there's something on your face,' Minji responds and then kisses Bora. 'It was me.' Bora becomes red and flustered.
And now that she thinks about it, their love wasn't enough. It wasn't the love Siyeon needed. And even if what they shared was a beautiful thing, Siyeon wasn't ready.
She stares at each star dotting the night sky pointedly and she can’t help but think how, tonight, they serve as a mirror for her thoughts. or Minji leaves and Bora feels.
Her friend was so wrong for deciding to sign up her literal long-time rival as her date as if Bora’s daily nagging about Minji was said into the void.
It was a dark day the day that she left. I replay the words I had said to her over and over again in my head, almost like a movie I had seen far too many times to the point I could recite it word for word.

Reach for the sky. That was something she had heard ever since she first picked up a book. And she had done just that, reached for the sky and way beyond until all she could see was black. Until her only beacon of light, of hope, was the silver-haired girl, shining brightly against the gigantic black hole in front of them.
