A Sincere Apology
My Rich BoyfriendMinho POV
Okay.
Okay...
Don't panic.
No need to shave anything.
Just because Taemin ignored me since our fight, doesn't mean he's still pissed today. I'm sure he slept on it and the world looks very different today. I bet we're already laughing about it tonight.
"Hahaha. Remember when I hated you for destroying my shirt and in return I bought the building where you live so I could raise your rent so I could kick you out? Wasn't that hilarious? Hahaha."
Our grandchildren will still be laughing about it. It is quite a unique love story. Maybe I should write to Netflix. They make a movie out of everything. I mean The Kissing Booth got three movies. Then this will at least have 6 instalments.
Armed with a large bouquet of red roses, I step into my mother's house. Everything seems normal, just like always. That is already a good sign. I can already make out laughter from the kitchen...Taemin's laughter is also there.
I clear my throat as I approach the usual suspects. Abruptly the laughter stops.
I know now why Aeg and Yo always wear sunglasses. If they didn't wear them, their laser beams would go right through me and cut me in two.
Mother looks back and forth between Taemin and me and Taemin ignores me.
"Hello darling." Mother greets me sweetly, even smiling.
"Hi." I say like a little mouse to the crowd.
I take a deep breath and concentrate on my greatest strength: my looks. I've dressed up extra fancy today, so Taemin can't help but forgive me. I wear a suit that represents my second greatest strength.
"Green brings out your eyes even more." Said my new stylist as he showed me the suit with the dollar bill print. My white shirt and gold chain also show that I have money, but I don't flaunt it. I am still very modest about it.
I purse my lips and make them look even bigger than they already are. I keep my eyes half-closed to create the perfect F-boy look and my eyebrows say: I am the man you long for.
"Is he sick?" I hear Yo whisper to Mother. And yes I am! You could say…I am lovesick.
She just shrugs her shoulders.
But as my eyes slide to Taemin, I get jelly in my legs and my actually deep and masculine voice sounds like the Wish version of Mickey Mouse.
"I brought these for you." I hold out the bouquet of roses to Taemin, which weighs more than the pig I bought from the farmer last year.
It wasn't just any pig. Pumbaa from The Lion King was nothing compared to it. This pig won the prize for the biggest pig in all of Asia, but today I think I'm entitled to the prize.
I wonder what the old fellow is up to today.
My eyes flicker back and forth between Taemin and the floor. He looks down at the flowers, bored, and then back at his tablet.
"I...um...put them in a vase for you."
I take an empty vase, fill it with water and put the many flowers in it. Slowly, I slide the vase across the kitchen counter to him.
And then it happens. My heart does backflips.
Taemin takes one of the roses out of the vase and looks at it. Looking at them I realise that this rose is nothing compared to Taemin's beauty.
He takes out another rose, then another and another, until the vase is only filled with water.
Behind him, Mother, Aeg and Yo stand, watching him closely.
With the vase in his hands, he walks towards me.
Symbolically, I understand what he is trying to tell me. He is just an empty vase without me. I am the roses in his life. I bring colour into his life. Netflix will eat that up!
…
Or maybe not.
The troupe behind Taemin starts vulturing away like a pack of ravens.
I run my hands over my wet face and brush away the hair stuck to my forehead.
Okay. I deserved that.
New day, new luck is my motto from today on.
Who apologises with flowers nowadays? Teen Lover showed me how it's done! Music is the key! But holding an old boombox outside your lover's window is so 1989! Let me add a little bit of spice.
"HeEeeEyY." I try to sound cool as I greet everyone. But my voice sounds like I have just entered puberty.
Taemin is still ignoring me, but not for long anymore, because the doorbell is already ringing.
"I wonder who that could be?" I ask loudly, so that no one suspects anything.
