In short: Jimin scares the crap out of people because he has a natural scowl and usually stares at people who talk to him like they've sprouted a third head. After years of his classmates trying to crack his hard outer shell, most people have given up on ever being friends with the creepy genius that sat in the back of the class doodling idly in his notebooks. He watches them through the fringe of his bangs and he probably knows more about them than they know about themselves because he's observant but painfully painfully shy. He can always tell who has a crush on who, who is struggling, who likes what food, people's favorite kpop group, etc. Jimin would absolutely love to have friends and be able to discuss the things he's observed, but he's a little rough around the edges and tends to ruin it for himself by glaring and swearing at people who try to approach him. He gets nervous, okay? Plus, wouldn't it be weird if he brought everyone their favorite food one day despite never having had a proper conversation with them once? They would totally think he's a stalker, and they probably won't like him once he opens his mouth, so why bother in the first place? He tells himself that having friends is a burden and that the whole awkward courting process in which you're somewhere between being friends and aquaintences is an awkward road to navigate and he tries to tell himself he doesn't want to. But that doesn't stop the dull ache of loneliness he feels in the quiet moments at home where he doesn't know what to do with himself.

Jimin is rough around the edges in general, but you can see his kindness in the simple acts he does. If he notices your throat is sore, he'll go out and buy you honey water and cough drops (and probably over-do it a little by purchasing way too much). If you thank him for his kindness, he's going to pretend he didn't do it for you because oh my god he cannot take a compliment to save his little life. He takes almost every compliment as backhanded or completely embarrassing. "Jimin-ah, your hands are so soft. You have no callouses!" "...Yah, are you saying I don't work hard enough?"
Yeah, it can get annoying pretty fast. But it's because Jimin is just a little insecure and he doesn't want to get his hopes up that the person paying him compliments actually wants to be friends because goodness, that seems far too risky for our little Jimin. A guy with a face like his should never be this shy, it's unnatural. Although most people take his quiet demenor to be callous, rude, disinterested, cool, aloof, and even mean, Jimin seriously is just a quiet and shy guy who has moments of extreme kindness and moments of violence, and tons of weird social anxieties and awkward moments where he accidentally mumbles things out of the blue or over-shares information about the weird dream he had last night. He has no social skills to speak of, but he's cute and sweet and cuddly underneath all that anger and once Jimin starts to open up and become comfortable around people, his natural charm and cuteness really begins to show.

"You say that I'm kind of difficult, but it's always someone else's fault."
When Jimin finally opens up to the people around him and becomes comfortable, he's actually a pretty cute guy with a lot of natural aegyo who secretly loves holding hands and sometimes awkwardly blurts out too much information, then turns all pink when he realizes that most people don't say things like that. For instance, when one of the members is talking about his dream and saying he had a nightmare that he failed and was worried it would come true, Jimin's way of reassuring him is saying "I have dreams in which I die a lot," and what he means is that dreams don't really come true, but it really felt like it came out of nowhere and no one knows what to say so he gets embarrassed and tries to explain, but really it just makes it so much worse so he snaps his mouth shut and storms off to his room to sulk. He's the type that likes to take care of people, which is of course related to him buying treats for the other members and falls into the category of "Jimin sort of stalks people when he wants to get to know them better." He'll be able to identify when the others are upset, and in his own way he'll try to cheer them up even if they aren't that close by purchasing them their favorite treats and randomly, awkwardly saying weird reassuring things like "You didn't do too bad on the singing this time," and people usually take that the wrong way because he meant you're improving but it sounded a lot like "You still ."

Likes:
> Dimples: They are the cutest things he has ever seen. Hongbin beware, even if Jimin has never said a single word to you, he is going to march right up to you with a stormy, broody glare and poke your dimples and then walk off without explaining himself and it might leave you traumatized.
> Snacks: His biggest struggle is giving up snacks and eating healthy because seriously every time he passes a snack bar he's going to want to go in and buy prawn chips and eat the entire bag right then and there, and then go back in for another bag.
> Music: He's particularly a fan of music that sounds poppy and cute and cheerful but has a dark message or painful truths. For instance, he likes Marina and the Diamonds.
> Horror Movies: They're one of his guilty pleasures. He sits in his room and watches them when there is nothing else to do. He likes the ones where he has to try and figure out who the killer is since he fancies himself a detective.
> Aegyo: he think's aegyo is amazing and he loves watching people do aegyo. He gets really uncomfortable when people ask him to do aegyo and ends up covering his face and shaking his head and suffering from post traumatic stress.
> Reading: He likes reading in his free time and can usually be found laying on his stomach with his ankles locked behind him and his glasses sliding off his nose.
> Naps: This kitty needs his beauty sleep and his little in-between naps. Don't tell anyone that he secretly cuddles people and pillows in his sleep, it's too embarrassing.

Dislikes:
> Being woken up: He curses and snarls and growls and glares. He gets so mad when someone wakes him up, it's not even funny. He snaps instantly. "Can you please shut your BIG, STUPID MOUTH?! I'm trying to SLEEP!"
> Coffee: It's not so much that he dislikes coffee, he just dislikes it when it's not from Starbucks. Yeah he's a princess
> Disliked foods: Tomatoes, beets, brussel sprouts, raw broccoli, cooked carrots (he hates veggies, lets just get that out of the way. He will flat out refuse to eat veggies when placed in front of him, and tends to order very particularly at restaurants.)
> Cooking: No matter what he says, Jimin is a princess and he hates cooking for himself and likes it when other people cook for him. He'll grumble and complain quietly if he's asked to do the cleaning.
> When someone swipes the remote or talks through his dramas: Yo, if he's watching his dramas you should probably just avoid him because if he feels you're being too loud (and by loud, if you even so much as make a noise) he's going to get angry and smack you.

Habits:
> Eating: He has a bad habit of eating everything one by one. So if he's eating corn, or noodles, or anything (but not rice thank god), he will only eat one piece of it at a time. And when he's eating snacks like a donut, popcorn, chips, he'll break off pieces with his hand and eat it in small chunks.
> Emotions: When Jimin is angry, it's not as obvious as you might think. Yelling doesn't mean he's angry, and neither does glaring. You can really tell that Jimin is angry when he cleans. He will not clean the house any other time than when he's angry, and he does a serious clean. He'll wash every surface until it glows. | When Jimin is sad, it's pretty hard to tell because he just gets even more quiet. | Happy Jimin is the Jimin that claps at random things that amuse him. If he sees a puppy, for instance, he'll feel happy and clap. Or if someone buys him starbucks. | Jimin's nervous habit is touching his hair or playing with his hair a lot.
> Sleeping: Jimin is a super-light sleeper and even the quietest of noises will wake him. He also cuddles in his sleep. Usually it's just his pillow, but if you happen to share a bed he will koala-latch to you.

Background:
Some kids are just born shy, like Jimin, where they aren't very chatty even from a young age. He was never particularly friendly or outspoken, always hanging a little on the shy side throughout his childhood, hiding behind his parents legs when meeting new people and crying his eyes out on the first day of school because stranger danger! He never quite got used to school, even after years of attending because each new day was positively nerve wracking. Something about being in a cramped place with hundreds of people his own age was ultra-terrifying because oh my god what if one of them wants to talk to him?! How was Jimin supposed to hold a conversation with these people? What were people even interested in these days? He didn't know! School for Jimin was simple- he was intelligent and perfectly capable of doing the hard work and maintaining his coveted spot in the top ten, but social interactions were a no-go for the shy boy. 

When Jimin was ten he awkwardly attended his school's talent show and tried to serenade the masses with his angellic voice and his passionate love for singing. The only problem? Jimin has a voice that makes you want to flee in terror. He was completely and utterly humiliated, which was why he had to move schools not long after because there was no showing his face after that particular instance. He still knew he wated to do something with music since it was one of his biggest passions and, with a deep voice like his, he felt maybe he could work on his rap skills after the family left Jeolla and moved to Seoul. Jimin began attending singing and rapping classes on top of his Judo and Taekwondo classes and school, leading an incredibly busy life for quite a while- but liking to keep busy. His grades sank a little but his parents didn't seem to have a problem with it due to the fact that he was more interested in pursuing a career in music than a career as a doctor or as a lawyer that would require top grades; in many ways, Jimin had a wonderful set of parents and they fully supported him when he auditioned at YG and was ultimately accepted to train at the age of fourteen. After only a year at YG, Jimin was dropped and took his talents (or lack there of) and his infallible determination and bumbling shyness to Jellyfish Entertainment where he has trained ever since.
