For the last time, I was watching the boats on the river, listening to the seagulls squawk at each other and smelling the very faint smell of sea air.  I walked familiar streets, looking at the buildings where memories had been formed and smiling fondly at the recollections of times gone by.

As I was driven to the airport, the sun was starting to sink below the lush, green fields.  A soft breeze tickled the leafy green trees and dark green hedgerows.

It was a clear evening, and I watched the twinkly lights below as the plane climbed higher into the sky.  I placed a palm onto the window and shed a tear for my first love that I was leaving behind.

I'll be back someday, I promised.

For now, I was off on a big adventure.  Heading back, hopefully, into the arms of the boy that I loved.
