Indeed. Moon Ah Reum was trying her best not to chicken out from Im Ji Hoon's annoucement.
"We're going clubbing with EXO."
Ah Reum kept her posture poised as always. She would not let her nerves get the best of her, especially in front of the too-good-to-be-true Im Ji Hoon.
Ji Hoon his chin with his index finger and thumb and held his gaze on Ah Reum.
"Is something wrong, Ah Reum?" Ji Hoon asked her with genuine concern. Perhaps it was Ji Hoon's worried look that made Ah Reum's heart flutter,
or was it Ji Hoon's tenderness that caused her cheeks to heat up?
But aside from being a conservative, strait-laced publicist, Ah Reum was also a skilled magician for she had
mastered the art of hiding her feelings for Im Ji Hoon.
Realizing that she was beginning to space out, Ah Reum took her navy blazer and faced Ji Hoon properly. "Nothing is wrong." She answered and prepared to leave with Ji Hoon for the club.
"Do you want me to drop you off to your loft first, so you could change into casual clothing? It's fine. We can go to the club anytime we want." Ji Hoon offered and grinned at her, as if his smile was demanding her to kiss him right then and there.
Ah Reum could not believe Ji Hoon being considerate to her, despite being her boss. For the love of Zeus, he was offering her to drive her home to change!
But sadly, here are three realities that slapped Ah Reum on the face:
1. Her wardrobe consisted of her no-nonsense work attires that came in dark blue or black, so in conclusion, no casual, "chill", clubbing clothes for her.
2. She did not want anyone seeing where she lived. It's not that she lived in a nasty and cluttered animal farm nor a lush mansion that bragged a swimming pool nor a house with a shrine dedicated for Ji Hoon. In fact, she lived in a high-rise apartment with crisp, white walls and wooden flooring. Having used to solitude, it was simply unusual to show her apartment to anyone, even Im Ji Hoon. A private person, in short.
3. Being a person of considerateness, she did not want Ji Hoon to go through the trouble of driving her home just to change.
With these realities, the only logical thing was this reply,
"Thank you, but no thank you." She mumbled, distant and frigid.
Ji Hoon could only nod and surrender at Moon Ah Reum's self-contained persona.
"You nervous?" Ji Hoon questioned Ah Reum the minute they entered the club.
"No." was her direct answer.
As a matter of fact, Ah Reum no longer felt the nerves of coming into a club with blaring music and noisy crowd. She always prepared ahead, and as crazy as it sounds, she successfully conditioned her brain to assemble herself properly in the bar.
Assemble as if she was preparing to battle...
And during the ride to the club, Ah Reum did not fail to Google tips on how not to get drunk, how to casually reject a drink, and basically, how not to reveal too much of herself in the welcoming arms of alcohol.
How rational and strategic of her.
If she could Google her way out of her problems, she must be a darn genius. After all, her years of studying in America honed her rational and analytical skills.
There was simply nothing that Ah Reum found impossible to do.
Ah Reum, in the sea of ladies who wore showy clothing that left almost nothing to imagination, did not feel left out in her business suit and eyeglasses.
While she held her chin up and stood straight, her non conformist thoughts made their presence known,
Why should I conform to the norm?
Who said that you had to wear a tight dress when clubbing?
If I feel like wearing my pajamas to the club, then I would.
As she stood by the bar, watching Ji Hoon get drinks for her, she saw from her peripheral view that her "best-loved" female colleague, by the name of Kang Hee Young was getting ready to approach her.
Quote on quote, "best-loved." That Hee Young felt as if she was God's blessing to humankind. Her s were the size of watermelons, and she liked to showcase her S-line by wearing her precious fitted dresses. And of course, she was only hired because of connections. When you have your uncle owning the company, for sure, employment was well under way. Not only did she fancy getting attention; Hee Young found comfort assaulting both Ji Hoon and Ah Reum. Specifically, Ji Hoon, for the lovable guy was presumed to have stolen the "boss" status from Hee Young.
"That bastard; I should have
