Ah Reum felt the atmosphere of the office thicken with Ji Hoon's sudden announcement that Chanyeol had called.
Why would Chanyeol call? Ah Reum thought. Being the over thinker that she was, Ah Reum started formulating her own set of hypotheses as to what Chanyeol told Ji Hoon. Since EXO was Ah Reum's new business assignment, their feedbacks mattered to her the most.
Did EXO find her austere? Unapproachable? Difficult to trust? Please, for the love of Zeus, send positive feedbacks.
Ah Reum waited patiently for Ji Hoon to continue his update on Chanyeol. She appeared to be relaxed, but all she really wanted was to forcibly get the words out of Ji Hoon's mouth. She wished she could do that, but she was a dignified and civil human being who valued work ethics as much as she valued her black coffee.
"As you know, I handle a lot of celebrity news and information, so don't be surprised to find out that I have Chanyeol's number stored in my phone. Well, actually, I have EXO's number in here too. Before your transfer to SM, I had to befriend EXO to see the kind of guys you'll work with. I didn't want my best media associate to work with punks, so I had to get to know them first. Besides, those guys pay a huge amount to our company whenever they're dating someone, so I know them, especially Baekhyun and Yixing who have girlfriends." Ji Hoon explained as he went over his white IPhone 6 plus.
Ah Reum understood Ji Hoon because she too, received good, solid cash from less popular idols who wished to keep their dating lives and scandals private. Ah Reum worked in a company that controlled media distribution, so she knew, by heart, the ropes of the lucrative business she was in.
"So okay, Chanyeol called me up while I was driving. We exchanged the usual how are you's, I'm fine thank you's. And then he began telling me how he mistook you for a fan of EXO. The guy was laughing at his failure to distinguish a fan from a staff member, and it was pretty funny too. But on a lighter note, Chanyeol told me that EXO's looking forward to working with you."Ji Hoon finally told Ah Reum.
Ah Reum was somehow relieved when she heard the news, but she was professional in front of Im Ji Hoon. She kept her expressionless face on. She thought Chanyeol would call her out for being such an uptight presence at the fansigning event. The number of times she was called "", "indiffirent", and "anti-social" at work was impossible to count, and guess what?
Ah Reum did not have a care in the world.
Prattle talk, gossip and intrigue at work had a place in Ah Reum's office desk- the trashbin. Her envious colleagues would attempt digging her past, present, and future, but their efforts had always been futile. Luckily, Im Ji Hoon would always defend her from their prying officemates. Her boss saw Ah Reum beyond her unexciting exterior, and Ah Reum wanted nothing but to love Im Ji Hoon with all her heart.
And Ah Reum was the kind of woman who loved so much and loved so hard. She was ready to carry the weight on her shoulders and let the love of her life sit comfortably, without having to worry about the pain that Ah Reum was facing, in the name of love.
A modern martyr, per se?
"Goodluck, Moon Ah Reum." Ji Hoon worded and squeezed her shoulder.
Park Chanyeol was sipping his favorite strawberry drink when Kyungsoo and Jong In entered EXO's dressing room. Kyungsoo had his habitual "I'm done with this world" facial expression as he grabbed Chanyeol's drink from his huge, bony hand.
"Hey! That's my drink!" Chanyeol exclaimed at Kyungsoo, stood up and towered overshadowed the latter with his six feet frame. Jong In laughed in the background and put a hand on Kyungsoo's shoulder.
"It's 10 am, and it's time for a meeting wi
