As an extremely friendly person, Tiffany often found Taeyeon’s quietness troublesome. She was not a high socialite, not yet, but she was building relations here and there for the sake of her business. Apparently bringing a plus one to some events was pretty important. She didn’t realize it before but people asked this question a lot are you single? She didn’t find it a big deal at first, but it became a big deal when people started hitting on her – which she hated.

Tiffany knew that interacting with strangers in parties was not Taeyeon’s strongest suit. However, Taeyeon had never turned down her invitation. She wouldn’t speak a word if another person didn’t try to approach her first. Even Sooyoung, her close friend who also happened to be the friendliest and funniest among all, found it difficult to engage a conversation with her girlfriend.

Taeyeon usually sat by herself with champagne and a cake at a table or stood behind Tiffany (when she was talking to her business partners) with a small of her hand on the taller girl’s back. The latter was obviously a lot better than the first one. She didn’t exactly know why but that subtle touch could manage to boost her mood and confidence.

“So you’re a… you teach children? Like in the middle of a,” she gestured a small rectangular shape then shrugged.

Tiffany clenched her jaw at the question that the woman in front of her threw at Taeyeon. The way she asked it… gosh, she got that this woman was a high socialite with power and stuff and she actually needed her to promote her brand but gosh! That was rude! Lucky her for never agreeing to go on a date with her.

“Yes, I am, ma’am.” Taeyeon smiled politely.

“I’m sorry it’s just you look like um… how do I put it? An outsider? You look so uncomfortable–”

“Alright. That’s enough.” Tiffany bit her inner cheek angrily. She was so ready to kick this disrespectful . Screw that promotion. No one disrespect her girlfriend. But at that very time, she felt Taeyeon’s palm pressed more firmly on her back.

“This is not my thing, yes.” Taeyeon spoke up. “But who am I to pass accompanying my lady for a lovely evening?” Taeyeon turned to Tiffany. “Speaking of which, they have the best torte I’ve ever tasted. You’d love it. Let’s find one. I think they put it there.” Taeyeon pointed the dessert table. “Have a great night, ma’am.” Taeyeon nodded a bit, then tugged Tiffany’s elbow gently.

“I’m not in the mood for torte.” Tiffany said under her breath as they were walking away. Her blood was boiling. She was a bit annoyed that Taeyeon interrupted her like that. Even though she knew better than to make a scene.

“Then what are you in the mood for?”

“Home.”

“The event’s not over yet.” Taeyeon reminded her.

“No, I just… I need to go home. Just take me home.” Tiffany avoided eye contact with her girlfriend.

“Okay.”

As Taeyeon pulled her car to Tiffany’s apartment parking area, she turned the car’s light off.
