Inexorable
The Aftermath of Rain//Note: Somehow, more people have read chapter 7 than chapter 6? I'm not sure why that happened, but wanted to leave a heads up here so if you're not sure if you may have missed a chapter, go check it out. I update every day.
[Jongup POV]
"Do you still like him?" Zelo asked. We were alone in the practice room, sweating and sprawled next to each other against the mirror, water bottles in hand. Several months had passed since the jarring, if not traumatic, event that had us all exploding. More than half a year, actually. I felt like Zelo had somehow grown more mature since then. Like he started treating us all as actual people instead of just hyungs. Not bothering to pretend I did not know exactly what he was asking about, I hummed while considering.
"I thought I didn't. You know, for a long time I couldn't look at him. Couldn't even think about him without getting pissed or feeling sick..." Zelo hummed back sadly, as if he understood. Perhaps he did. "But, you know... I just can't help it. I'm looking at something else, and he walks past and my eyes will just follow him. I'm talking to someone else, but then he laughs in the background and I listen without thinking. I mean to stay away, but then I think of something funny and poke him til he hears me out. You know how they say there's a fine line between love and hate? It's like I went from one to the other but gravity is just pulling me back before I know it."
"So the tl;dr is?" I smirked and considered swatting him for being cheeky when I was rambling straight from my heart.
"Well, I guess the short answer is yes. Somehow, Daehyun is still Daehyun no matter how I spin it."
"Hmm, I see..." He took a swig from his water. "I'm glad you're feeling better about it anyway."
"Yeah."
"One more song?"
"Let's go."
