“Happy Birthday Baekhyun-ah!” Jaemi sang out loud, ignoring the stares of people around her. She gave him a tight bear hug and giggled when he returned the favour. “You’ve aged a year older. Ah, why do I feel like a proud mom?”

Jaemi laughed as he pushed her forehead using his index finger.

“Idiot” he said, feigning annoyance, but laughed in the end. “What the-! Sehun get off me” he groaned. The said boy merely laughed and hugged his neck tighter. “I can’t. Both of you disgust me so much I feel like I have to interfere.”

“What did you get Baekhyun as his birthday present, Sehunnie?” the girl asked, though already knowing the answer. He pretended to stop and think before blurting out his answer in a split second.

“Nothing”

Baekhyun pouted. “You, my friend, is the worst dongsaeng I’d ever had”

Sehun shook his head and smiled gleefully. “Nope. Wait until you see Jongin, then you’ll say that I’m the best dongsaeng in the world”

“Both of you are the worst” Baekhyun replied, shaking his head at Sehun’s words. Kai came a few minutes later, his hair unkempt, his uniform untucked. “Morning guys” he said, his words quickly swallowed with a large yawn.

“Really Baekhyun?” Jaemi asked with a mischievous glint in her eyes. “Jongin”

“What?”

He ruffled his hair in attempt to make it a little bit presentable. “What day is it today?” Kai blinked and shrugged.

“Thursday”

“Well, yeah. Is there anything happening today?” she stressed her words a bit. Kai let off another yawn and shrugged. “Not that I’m aware of. Why? Is something happening today?” he asked them. Baekhyun’s faced darkened little by little as minutes passed. Finally he huffed and shouted.

“Fine! You win Sehun. He’s the worst dongsaeng I’d ever had! Bye” he his heels and left a dumbfounded Kai and a sniggering Jaemi and Sehun. Both of them high fived each other and Sehun nudged Kai as he walked past him.

“Wait. What did I do wrong?!”

“Since when you’re interested in photography?”

Baekhyun smiled and fiddled with his newly acquired camera, ignoring the question. “Yah”

“I don’t know. I just like the beauty, I guess.”

“What do you mean?”

Silence.

“Jaemi. Look at this flower. Pretty isn’t it?” he pointed at a blooming rose peeking amidst the leaves. She nodded, not quite getting it.

“Well, the rose is blooming, becoming mature and eventually going to die, as we speak. And we might forget how pretty it was once it’s dead. But a photo, might help us to remember it”

“Then at least take a picture of me, in case you might forget me once you get older” she joked. Baekhyun hit her head. “Idiot. I didn’t mean it like that”

But he turned and snapped a picture of her when she’s least suspecting it. “. I’m not ready! Delete that! I look ridiculous” she muttered. 

“You always look pretty to me”

“What?”

“Want to know a secret?”

Jaemi shrugged. “What?”

“I like you”

Baekhyun ruffled her hair, making it stick out in every direction.

“Let’s make the moment last, Jaemi. Say ‘kimchi’!” Baekhyun said, making the camera face in their direction.

Jaemi swept the hairs out of her face as she rummaged the contents
