The MisfitsIt was strange to sit in the car with them like nothing ever happened. The scent of blood and death lingered in the air and made Hana feel like she would throw up at any minute. As she drew a deep breath, goosebumps appeared on her skin even though she tried to suppress it. “Hana.” She flinched as Changmin called her name. He, as well, reeked after the blood of the Vampires, but that didn't change anything about the fact that he was still Changmin. “Yes?”
Of course, he noticed the small tremble in her voice, but he was also very sure that if he would touch her now, she would hit him, and if Changmin had to be honest, he didn't want to get hit by her again. “Relax a bit.” She hasn't even notice that her body was completely tense and it seem to be completely impossible for her to relax. For the last hour, she has remained completely silent, her hands clawed into her legs.
The car suddenly drove slower, and Luhan leaned back. He saw the huge walls, which surrounded the city. They were even bigger and thicker and looked darker than the walls in Columbus. “Do they control here?” Marie asked curiously. She has never entered Detroit because of certain reasons, and one of them was that Detroit was the headquarter of the Hunter Guilt.
“No, why should they? Not here.” Since the hunters didn't know that Vampires could walk in daylight, the Vampires didn't have to worry about walking around in the city. There were more Vampires in Detroit than the hunters could imagine, but of course, they hid between the humans. Slowly, the car started to drive up again. “Act natural.” Lay muttered as the car stopped again after a few meters.
From inside through the shaded windows of the car, Hana could see three men trying to peek through into the car. They wore strange, dark brown and long coats, which hid the weapons the carried with them. Black jeans, black shirts and black leather boots, so as if they would try to blend in with the night. Slightly irritated, Hana stared at them because she failed to see where the purpose of being clothed like this was. The Vampires would see them anyway and even if they wouldn't be able to, they were able to smell them.
Heck, even though Hana was a newborn she could smell them, even though the walls of the car were between them. They seemed to be relaxed and not worried at all, mostly because the people stared at them in awe. It seemed like the hunters were pretty much known in the city . “We are visiting some people here." He let down the window and stared into the eyes of the grinning hunter. “What a pretty girl.” Was the first thing he said. His grin reminded Hana of the reptiles which had always been bathing in the sun on the stones in front of her house in the summer, only that the person right in front of her was human.
The faint scent of fir, mild rosin and winter night covered her as suddenly a more subtle scent mixed with the scent of the guy in front of her. The subtle scent of daisies, fresh cut grass and a rainy spring day, jumpy and wild. “Stop flirting around. We are at work.” The guy with the reptile features rolled his eyes, before he shook his head in dismay. “Ah, this is really boring. This is really below our standard.” He rubbed his neck as Hana suddenly felt an arm around her shoulder and a hand on her arm.
Luhan's scent confused her for a moment and as she turned her head, Luhan's face was only a few inches away from hers. “Are there any problems?” He looked at the two hunters who seemed to be quite astonished by his sudden appearance. “No, of course not.” A strange frown appeared on the men's faces, and they nodded at their friend who signed the driver that he had the permission to past.
“I wonder...” one of the hunters muttered and rubbed his chin. “Am I
