character's background

born in seoul, 1994, she is the only child to kwon jin young and kwon kyu mi. jieun grew up alone, without any siblings. but what she have is a very doting cousin, kwon jiyong. older by 5 years, jiyong has always viewed jieun as his younger sister, especially since he's the youngest in his family. as they were neighbours, he would always play with her in her house instead of spending time with his older sister. sometimes they even joke that jieun's is jiyong's real sister. when jieun was still in elementary school, jiyong is already a teenager. at that time, he will always buy jieun sweets from his way back home and sometimes sneak out with her to get icecream. even if other friends of jiyong for always hanging out with his younger cousin, he will jsut flip them off. when jieun gets teased or bullied in school, jiyong will go to her school and confront the bully, sometimes punching them, which led to him getting grounded back home. when jieun slowly began transiting from a small girl to a teenage girl, the gap between her and jiyong also got bigger. now that she is a teenager, she no long tell him all her secrets and he can no longer walk her back from school without having her feel as though she's still a child that needs to be taken care of. even though their relationship is now strained, jiyong is still always there for jieun, physically and emotionally. when she got her first period, he was there for her no matter how uncomfortable he felt. when her first boyfriend broke up with her, jiyong went to beat him up for hurting her and took her out to play the whole day. due to jiyong's protectiveness and care for jieun, jieun began developing a mild brother complex. no one can insult g-dragon, not under her watch. she is known to defend g-dragon from haters online and when she hear people talk bad about him in real life, she will abandon all passiveness she have and confront the person. to her, g-dragon is a hero she will always love, and someone she will always protect with her life.

jieuns parents are often overseas at work, which is why she spends so much time at jiyong's house as a child. even if her parents are busy, they will make sure to atleast be home once a month, and during their stay at home, they will not bother with work stuff unless its really necessary. jieun knows that her parents are trying really hard and does not want to disappoint them, which is why she strived to do well in school. for all 4 years of highschool, she was the top in her level for all subjects and is the valedictorian when she graduated. she is a student loved and admired by teachers and students. she is also actively involved in her school's volleyball club, and has even brought home 2 gold  medals from state championships.

training background

Jieun had never planned to become an idol, or even anything to do with the entertainment industry. After she graduated highschool, she was waiting for her letter of acceptance to the university of seoul, at that time, she had been helping her mum around her business. that included going to concerts or music shows and even companies to help with the looks of idols. jieun even got to go on the set of 'Scarlet Heart:Ryeo". One day, she followed her mum to the backstage of Super Show 5 and she helped with the makeup of Sungmin and Ryeowook. While she was there, she captured the attention of most members, such as Heechul and Leeteuk due to her visuals and innocent aura she gave off. when they asked her mum for permission to recruit her, she laughed and told them that jieun has no plans to become a trainee. but they managed to convince her mum to persuade jieun into considering, however, she told them that she has absolutely no talent and that was when super junior almost gave up on recruiting her. its not until jieun announced that she have to leave early for her gymnastics practice did they realize that her gymnastics background may be put in use as a dancer. they asked her mum to take a video of her practicing a part of her upcoming performance, coincidentally, jieun major in rhythmic gymnastics, ribbon component, which is similar to ballet eventhough it is more of acrobatics. super junior then encouraged her to audition for label sj using gymnastics, since it will help her in dance training if she got accepted. of course, she did not get a yes immediately, until the judge looked at her record and saw her musical background. he thought that since jieun has a knack for in anything rhythmic, dancing should be easy on her. she got accepted but on one condition, if she does not prove herself (be it dancing or anything else) after 1 month of training, she will get kicked out.

When jieun joined the company, she have no trouble fitting in, and soon found her forte to be dance and composing. her composing skills became the centre of gossips for a period of time, many accused her of asking her cousin, gdragon, to help her. but she easily shut them up by composing a short piece on the spot. After that, she is able to befriend everyone except for one (you can decide who hehe) trainee who thought that Jieun got in due to gdragon and her mum's influence and therefore looked down on jieun. jieun tried to ignore her hurting words and strived to work even harder to prove that she is wrong. And the fact that she have to makesure she stay in the company, she practiced extra hours everyday. and truthfully enough, her gymnastics background did help her in dance due to her flexibility.

when jieun is still lacking in vocals, luhan will help her to the best he could. he taught her how to control her voice to makesure its steady during live performances and how to control her breathing so she will not be panting when performing. jieun has also been on different music videos such as btob's irresistible lips, exo's wolf and bigbang's lets not fall in love.
