she faced many difficulties along her journey as a trainee but never let them push her down. the more obstacles and criticisms she face, the more she wants to hold on and prove everyone wrong. she have never been one to give up since young, even if all odds were against her. some may call her stubborn, but she don't think its a bad thing at all. she absolutely hates judging others before knowing them. her mum have always told her to never judge someone based on appearance and rumors. she accepts everyone as long as they are nice to her. she have been a supporter of lgbtq since the day she found out what they mean and openly shows her support on social media since predebut. as the captain of her school basketball team, she knows how difficult and frustrating it can be when others don't listen. she always try to follow orders of her superiors and strive to work well with her team mates, just to make everyone's life easier.

most of the time, she act before she think. her impulsiveness often get her into trouble, but her blames it on the stupid actions of others. her anger often get the best of her which results in her fighting with others which end up in her getting into trouble. but to her, its all worth it because she believed that she did the right thing. growing up, she was always compared to her older brother. he was the top scorer, and she was always coming in 2nd. her parents would always compare the both of them and biseul will never be able to stand in comparison next to him. as a result, she grew really insecure and doubt her capabilities often. even if she's doing good, she'll still think its not good enough and it'll affect her overall performance. many also describe her as a little kid. she have trouble staying serious, and will sometimes make careless remarks that land her in trouble.

she was born in shenzhen, china to a korean dad and a chinese mum as well as an older brother by 2 years. just like typical asian parents, her parents only expect the best from her and she often fails to meet their expectations. its not that she can't do it because she's stupid, she knows that if she study hard, she will come in first. but the interest just isn't there. she don't want to be a doctor or lawyer, she wants to be a professional basketball player. she plays pointguard in her middle school basketball team and her coach always told her how great of a player she is, despite her short height.

but her parents have never approved of her playing basketball because they don't think she will be successful in the future. they'd rather her focus on her studies and earn millions in the future, even if she hates it. her parents only meant well but she can't see it, she thinks that they are forcing her to achieve what they couldn't and find them controlling and intruding of her personal life.

one day, she was offered a scholarship to a highschool in korea and the only external condition was to continue basketball and join the national team in the future. she was shocked at first, i mean, she was only 14 and already offered a place on the national team. she told her parents about it and obviously they were like "no u cant" but she's like "i already accepted it and there's nothing you can do about it". her parents were mad and disappointed and there was a huge argument but there's no way she's gonna listen to them this time.

so one week later she flew to korea with her coach without saying goodbyes to her family. so basically she left on bad terms yay and haven't seen them in person since then.

ok but tragically in korea, she was happily playing basketball and living her life and totally forgot about her studies. just like all scholarships, she have to maintain good grades or forget about the scholarship. so over a night, she lost everything she have in korea. she could no longer study in the pretigious school and she no longer have a place to stay as it was all under the scholarship she lost.

for the next 3 weeks she stayed with a friend of hers while looking for another school and also a part time job. she was about to give up and go back to china when she saw a notice calling for auditions. she went back and searched it up and they offer their trainees a place to stay as well as 3 meals a day yay. so she went to audition. and she got in thanks to her dance background [her parents forced her to go for dance classes when she was young yay].

– trivia was the captain of her basketball team back in china, she really like seventeen, once cut her palm while slicing meat and she was never allowed back in the kitchen ever again, gaeul is currently her legal guardian in korea, haven't seen her parents in 3 years even though they talk on the phone occasionally, never dated anyone before, finds alot of guys cute but will never have to courage to approach them because of low self-esteem, her go to quote is "fake it till you make it", she normally sleep at 4-5am because she can't seem to sleep early yay, currently in SOPA, she literally worships gaeul like if you hurt her you a dead man, her ideal type is JR from nuest and she expressed this on broadcast so many times like she's his biggest fangirl but she saw him once at backstage of some music show and he recognised her but she literally melted into a puddle and avoided him, she's plat2 in leagueoflegends and aspire to join SKT T1 or ROX tigers one day

– bestfriends :: lai guan lin (17) / idol / savage, protective, caring, playful / 10/10 / he will scold her when she doubts herself and if anyone else dare to say sh!t about her he will fight them. may be the reason why she never dated before because everyone thought they were together. often gossips about other idols in chinese together. they attended the same school and met on the basketball court. it started off as those "oh lets ball tgt" kind of friendship but they soon discovered that they had many similarities!!

– legal guardian :: jung gaeul (29) / manager / maternal, caring, patience / 8/10 / biseul looks up to her as a second mother because before biseul was alone in korea for 3 years and then one day this lady came and started caring so much about her and got so protective when biseul told her her background that biseul teared up because wow someone cares about her survival here.

– someone she look up to :: han wang ho (peanut) (20) / progamer / soft, attentive / 6/10 / he's more like an online friend because they never really met in real life but he's always there to listen to her vent about her problems and give her advices in league. he's also the reason why she decided to play jungler. they met in a game together, biseul mid and peanut jg, and biseul was getting countered and ganked so hard early game, peanut had to keep saving her and shes like blessuthanks and they kind of started talking from thr bc they discovered they actually have great synergy!!

– mother :: Chen Jia Yi (50) / housewife / strict / 6/10 / they never talked much after biseul came to korea but biseul really misses her mother alot. there are times she wished she and her mum could be like those mother-daughters she always see on the streets but she know it will never happen. her mother has always been strict with her since young and never once spoilt her.

– father :: Kang Tae Hyun (52) / lawyer / strict / 6/10 / her father always puushed for biseul to be #1 at whatever she do, and sometimes neglects her feelings. it seems like he cares more about her results than her, but its only because he don't really know how to express his love towards her.

– brother :: Kang Bi Hyun (19) / student / hardworking, cold / 8/10 / her brother never liked their parents comparing biseul to him. even though he's good at studying, he never wanted biseul to be like him. he didn't wish for her to face the stress he did studying and would rather her pursue her interests. when biseul flew off to korea, he was lowkey proud of her for standing up to their unreasonable and strict parents. he often called her when she was in korea and tried to send her some money [which she declined because its his own allowance]

trainee life.  when she first joined the company she was really scared because she's new and everyone there look like they all have their cliques already. and she wasn't even fluent in korean then. everyone look so talented and she's intimidated because all she's confident in is her basketball skills. she was pretty much alone for the next 1 month until the company announced that there will be dorms for the trainees to live in if they want to. it wasn't luxurious and there were like 7 of them crammed in one room in the company building but she wasn't complaining. one night the girls decided to get to know eachother better and that's when biseul opened up to them slightly. that was also the night biseul made her first friend in the company, another trainee set to debut in the same group as her. that girl always helped biseul during training and offered her food she bought from outside as she knows biseul barely have any money to spare.

it was a really tough 3 years for her, juggling training, studies and her part time job together. her parents never sent her any money and she never visited them back home and vice versa. there were nights she spent crying and sobbing and wailing because she just want to give up and she's actually so lonely even though she'll never admit it. but she held on all the while, because she firmly believe in this quote, "tough times don't last, but tough people do."

how do you feel about debuting?
kind of nervous because i'm still lacking in alot of places but i promise to work hard and improve.

do you have any goals you want to achieve with Adora? 
i hope adora can become a group loved by all of korea in the future. and i hope we win rookie girl group award this year.

do you have any role model? How do they inspire you? 
hyuna sunbaenim. i'm a really shy person but when i look at her performing, i tell myself that's what i want to be in the future, confident and strong.

do you have any ideal type as well? 
nuest JR! he seems really caring and gentle. if i have a boyfriend in the future, i want it to be someone like him.

how do you feel about being in a big group and living together? 
i'm really looking forward to it! i'm just abit worried about fighting for the bathroom...

what do you think about adora's concept?
unique, i don't think there's any girl group with this concept yet so its really a huge risk we are taking but i believe in the members and company.

and lastly, is there any idol you want to get to know backstage? 
if i tell you all, i'm afraid that this interview will never end. but seventeen! i've been a huge fan of them since they debuted and it would be great knowing them. maybe some gaming idols as well...
