This story was published  here before , then changed into a draft for some private reason.
Now, I will republish it back, because it was invited as a part of a "Yizhan Fairy Tale Holiday Fest!" organized on the AO3 site, where I post my stories too, along with AFF and Wattpad. And I will do my best to continue updating after the 7 chapters already written, maybe not as often as I'd like, but I will not draft it anymore.

~A fantasy story with slight accents inspired from "Beauty and the Beast" fairytale~

This is an AU story, where China is  divided in lots of smaller independent countries.
This AU world is a mix of modernity and bygone eras of humanity.
There is only one singular political regime for all the countries, that is the monarchy, each separated country having its own rules and own rulers. 
The names of the countries are flower names.
The internet and the mobile phone don't exist, people are using letters sent by riding messengers for communication, or by ships and cars. They don't have trains or airplanes, but they have cars, ships, yachts, boats, bicycles and motorcycles (lol, I couldn't leave prince Yibo without his  passion ), carriages and horses of course. 
The music ranging is the same as in our real present times, from classical, opera, ancient traditional  to rap, rock, pop, etc. 
They don't have cinema, radio, television, but they do have electricity.
The clothes and accessories they wear are to each individual's choices, from modern  casual, to ancient traditional outfits, depending on the occasion and on the individual's personality.
The characters could be kings, queens, princes, princesses, knights, and even witches or fairies, and other phantasmagoric creatures like werewolves, but modern characters too, like for an instant rock stars.
Homophobia, racism, ism, wars and other ugly s are sadly a thing, in this AU world, too. 
If I forgot something, I will add other needed explanations as the story will go, but maybe the readers could understand without any explanation when something will not be according to the logic of our real times.

Note: If I use names and images of real people as an inspiration for my characters, that doesn't mean that I disregard or even hate that real person who inspired a negative character for example. Take it as they are all muses or actors who accepted to act in my story.
So, if you are a fan of Yang Zi for example, don't get angry with me for giving her to play the role that I'll cast her in!
PS: But I admit that I admire and love the two main characters Xiao Zhan and Wang Yibo, not only as characters, but as the real people who inspired the characters, as well. 🥰
