CHAPTER 38
I MADE THE HEROINE FALL FOR MEIt's the exam day at Hastings, which means Charlie has a biology exam to ace today. She's pretty confident about it, but she still feels a hint of nervousness lingering in the back of her mind.
"Are you nervous?" Serena asked, a hint of concern in her voice as she noticed Charlie's expression.
"You can tell?" Charlie replied, attempting to mask her anxiety with a small smile.
Serena chuckled softly, her eyes scanning Charlie's face. "Yeah... those dark circles around your eyes give it away," she remarked with a teasing tone.
"I can't help but feel nervous... Even if I'm sure I studied really well..." Charlie admitted, her voice tinged with apprehension.
Charlie: T.T
"Charlie, do you think it will snow today?" Serena asked, a playful glint in her eyes as she tried to distract Charlie from her exam worries.
Charlie observed the sky, its bright and clear appearance contradicting any chance of snow.
"Hmm... I don't think it will snow today. Look at the sky, it's so bright..." she replied, feeling a sense of calm in Serena's presence.
"You think so? Then do you want to make a bet with me?" Serena proposed, her demeanor cool yet oddly comforting.
"A bet? All of a sudden?" Charlie responded, curious about Serena's sudden interest.
"Um, my mom told me that whatever wish you make during the first snowfall, it will come true..." Serena shared, her voice softening with a touch of nostalgia.
"Hmmm... If that's the case, then let's make a bet. And whoever loses, they will do whatever it is that the winner wishes..." Charlie agreed, feeling a sense of warmth in Serena's gentle presence.
"Okay! So, you're going to bet that it won't snow today, right?" Serena clarified, her expression softening with a hint of fondness towards Charlie.
"Yes! And I think I'm gonna win!" Charlie replied confidently, a smile gracing her lips as she enjoyed Serena's company.
Charlie: ^__^
Serena, looking at Charlie with a sweet smile: ^__^
As the biology exam began, Charlie felt a sense of confidence wash over her. Unlike before, when she had struggled to understand even a single question, the material now seemed surprisingly easy. With each question, she recalled the lessons she had studied and the discussions she had with Serena, and confidently penned down her answers. As she reached the last question, Charlie couldn't help but smile with satisfaction.
"Well, that was really easy..." she thought to herself, feeling a sense of accomplishment.
Glancing out of the window, Charlie noticed that the sky was still bright, confirming her earlier prediction.
"And it looks like I'm also going to win my bet with Serena... If it is such a wonderful day... I should start thinking about what my wish will be," Charlie mused, a playful glint in her eyes as she allowed herself to entertain the possibilities.
With a smile that mirrored that of a child's, Charlie continued to ponder her potential wish.
After class though, Charlie found herself losing the bet because as soon she stepped out of the school building, the snow suddenly start falling down. She reaches her hands out trying to catch a snowfall.
"It looks like I lost the best... and I don't have an umbrella..." Charlie said.
Charlie was ready to step out the building when an umbrella was placed over her head, she looked up and it was Serena smiling at her.
"You lost." Serena gently said.
"You got me again... So what's your wish?" Charlie asked.
Serena haven't really thought what her wish would be she just wanted to distract Charlie awhile ago so she came up with that..
'Hmm.. what should my wish be?' She thought.
"So?" Charlie said.
'Will you promise to never betray me?' Serena thought...
Then she looked at Charlie smiling genuinely at her then she smiled back.
'It looks like I don't even need to wish that.' She thought again.
"Hmm... promise me that whatever happens, we will always trust each other, okay?" Serena said.
"But isn't that given already? Like as girlfriends, shouldn't we always have to trust each other?" Charlie replied.
"Uhmmm you're right... then it doesn't count as a wish?" Serena asked.
"Yep! Think of something else..." Charlie said.
"Okay, then... My wish is for us to make countless of beauitful memories together!" Serena said smiling.
"Okay! Call! I'll promise you that!" Charlie said as she take Serena's hands and they entered the car waiting for them.
"So, how was your exam?" Serena said.
"I did pretty great!" Charlie replied confidently.
"Then that's good!" Serena smiled at Charlie.
The atmosphere at the Vanderbilt Mansion during dinner was tense, with Charlie, Serena, Celia, and Cornelius sitting at the table. Despite attempts at conversation, both Charlie and Serena seemed reluctant to engage with Cornelius and Celia.
"So how was your day, princess?" Cornelius asked, his gaze lingering a little too long on Serena, his eyes filled with an unsettling desire.
"Fine..." Charlie replied curtly, her discomfort evident as she noticed Cornelius's gaze on Serena.
Turning to Serena, Cornelius asked again, "How about you, Serena?" His voice had a subtle edge to it, sending shivers down Serena's spine as she felt his unsettling gaze on her.
"It's fine, Uncle..." Serena replied, trying to maintain her composure despite the uncomfortable attention from Cornelius.
Sensing the tension in the air, Cornelius shifted the topic to Charlie's upcoming birthday. "So, Charlie, your birthday is coming up, do you have any plans?" His eyes, however, remained fixated on Serena, his desire for her palpable.
