CHAPTER 62
I MADE THE HEROINE FALL FOR MESerena's eyes fluttered open, the soft morning light filtering through the curtains of Charlie's hospital room. She shifted slightly, feeling the warmth of the bed enveloping her. It was another day at the hospital, and Serena had spent the night sleeping at Charlie's bedside.
With a gentle sigh, Serena stretched her limbs, feeling the tension of the previous day slowly dissipating. She glanced over at Charlie, who was still peacefully asleep, her chest rising and falling in a steady rhythm. Despite the circumstances, there was a serene beauty in the way Charlie looked in repose.
Serena had requested Aunt Anne for a bigger bed, knowing that Charlie had insisted she sleep beside her. She couldn't argue with a patient's request, especially not with Charlie, so she had simply asked Aunt Anne for the accommodation. Now, lying here beside Charlie, Serena couldn't help but feel a sense of comfort and contentment.
As Serena watched over Charlie, she couldn't shake the worry that lingered in the back of her mind. The situation with SGC weighed heavily on her, and she knew she needed to find a solution soon. But for now, in this quiet moment, she pushed those thoughts aside and focused on the present.
Leaning back against Charlie's chest, Serena closed her eyes briefly, savoring the peace of the moment.
Charlie felt Serena move, stirring her from her sleep. Gently opening her eyes, she saw her beautiful Omega beside her.
"Awake already?" she said, her voice husky with sleep.
"Um," Serena replied softly, leaning in to give Charlie a sweet peck on the lips.
Charlie took Serena's hands and started playing with her fingers.
"I'm happy that Cornelius and Celia are finally out of the picture... you're safe now," Charlie said gently.
Serena looked at Charlie, her eyes reflecting gratitude and relief.
"We're safe now, sweetie," she smiled, squeezing Charlie's hand reassuringly.
"Anyway, Charlie... later today, Aunt Anne will give us the schedule for the operation on your glands... so you don't have to worry about it, okay?" Serena reassured her.
Charlie chuckled softly.
"It looks like you're more worried about the operation than me, Serena," Charlie remarked.
Serena sighed, her expression reflecting her concern.
"It's because I'm afraid something might happen to you," Serena admitted.
"I told you, as long as you're here... I'll keep coming back to you," Charlie said, her voice filled with conviction and love.
Their moment was interrupted when Serena's phone buzzed.
Serena looked at the caller ID and it was from Cato.
"I have to answer this, Charlie..." Serena gently said as she excused herself.
Serena went to the comfort room to answer the call.
Serena: Cato, isn't it too early for you to be calling?
Cato: What did you say to Mr. Churchill? They have cancelled our proposal all together... Serena, you know what this means right?
Serena: It means that we have to find another means to find an investor... Mr. Churchill's interest in our project is not because of the project itself but it's because he wanted me to arrange him a meeting with Charlie and Charlie is not comfortable with that so I declined his offer....
Cato: Serena, it's just a meeting... For sure, Charlie would understand it...
Serena: No, Cato... I'll find another way.
Cato sigh.
Cato: Alright, alright. I trust you. See you later.
Serena: Okay
As Serena finished her conversation with Cato, she heard the sound of the door opening behind her. She turned around and saw Charlie standing there..
"Charlie I---"
Charlie took a deep breath, as she looked at Serena.
"Serena, it's okay... If meeting Mr. Churchill will help the company, then I don't mind," Charlie said, her voice calm and resolute.
Serena's eyes widened in surprise at Charlie's unexpected response.
"Charlie, are you sure? I don't want you to do anything you're not comfortable with," Serena said, concern evident in her voice.
Charlie smiled reassuringly at Serena, placing a hand on her shoulder.
"I'm sure, Serena. Mr. Churchill is my grandfather, after all. If meeting him will benefit the company and help you, then I want to do it," Charlie explained, her gaze unwavering.
"But you don't have to..."
"But I want to." Charlie smiled while she kissed Serena on the forehead.
Serena's heart swelled with gratitude and admiration for Charlie's selflessness.
"Thank you, Charlie. Your support means everything to me," Serena said, her voice filled with emotion.
Serena called Cato to arrange a meeting with Henry Churchill, explaining everything that had transpired. She expressed her gratitude to Ch
