Chapter 4

The New Pack

Seungyoun sighed as he leaned back, intertwining his hands behind his head as he watched the younger members of their pack play around in the backyard. Dongpyo and Dohyun were currently running away from Eunsang who was chasing them in a game of tag. As practical and fun it looked, it did serve a purpose. It tested Eunsang's ability as a tracker, though Seungyoun was sure that he would be a runner from his current speed. He allowed a small smile to appear on his face as he watched them play, disguising it as he put a hand to his chin in a thinking pose as he crossed his arms.

"Enjoying the fun?" Asked Yohan as he walked over, sitting beside Seungyoun. "It's a test," said Seungyoun. "Of course it is," said Yohan. "Otherwise why would you suggest that they all played tag," he said. Seungyoun hummed in response.

"How much do you know of the two vampires that visited?" Yohan asked suddenly. "Not very much," said Seungyoun. "As I've said before, I never interacted with them, Yixuan usually did all the talking," he said. "I see," hummed Yohan. "Their pet is still here," said Seungyoun. "I know," said Yohan. "Wooseok is keeping an eye on him," he said. "I wonder what Wooseok is thinking about this whole thing?" He asked. "There clearly is something there between them both, but he refuses to acknowledge it," he said. Seungyoun shrugged. "I don't know," he said.

Wooseok hummed, watching Minhee and Junho fighting in their animal forms. He was amused really, to see those two take to training as soon as Minhee had gotten back from missions. Junho wanted to become a fighter, so he took the chance. Since Minhee was the only other small sized canine in the group, Wooseok took to keeping an eye on them to make sure that Minhee was careful with Junho due to the drastic size difference between the two of them and skill since Minhee was a vampire hunter.

Mingi approached Wooseok, standing beside him as he watched the two 'shifters fight. "So he's training to be a fighter huh?" He asked. "Mm," hummed Wooseok as he nodded. "I'm just here to make sure it doesn't get out of hand," he said. "I see," said Mingi.

"Everyone seems to think we are mates," said Wooseok. "We aren't," Mingi said with a snort. "Just because we have history with each other, it's a bit odd," hummed Wooseok. "I agree," said Mingi. "Pretty sure it's just the humans left in the group that think we are," said Wooseok. "They don't know any better," he said. "That's true," said Mingi.

Seungwoo came over, standing beside Mingi as he put his hands in his pockets. "Anything interesting going on?" He asked. "Not really," said Wooseok. "Just keeping an eye on things to make sure Minhee doesn't take things too far," he said. "You think he would?" Asked Seungwoo. "It's possible," said Wooseok. "Junho might also, with how impatient he gets," he hummed, leaning forward as the fight seemed to come to an end.

"You're learning," called Wooseok as Junho and Minhee came back after changing and putting on their clothes. "You did better this time around than your last fight," he said. Junho smiled slightly. "Thanks," he said, scratching the back of his head. Minhee shrugged. "He is getting better, but with larger opponents, they are going to be a small problem for him," he said. "That's what I was thinking," said Wooseok.

"What do you think I should do?" Asked Junho. "I think once we find out what Dongpyo or Eunsang change into we can introduce teamwork," said Wooseok. "But that would depend on what happens," he added. "Gyujin and Jinhyuk learned to fight together since they were around the same size in their animal forms," he said. "You have the makings of a messenger though," he added. "So if it doesn't work out, we'll have you become one," he said. Junho nodded.

"It was an interesting fight," said Mingi. "And you started changing not too long ago right?" He asked. Junho nodded. "I've been learning from Wooseok when Minhee wasn't here," he said. "A natural fighter I'd say," said Mingi. "Not many would take to learning how to fight so early into their lives as a 'shifter," he said.

"Your owners are here," called Yohan as he walked over. Mingi turned to Yohan, raising an eyebrow. "Owners?" He asked. "I dunno what else to call them," Yohan said, shrugging. "If I said vampires, it'd come across as rude," he explained. "That makes sense, I guess," hummed Mingi. "I'll be off then," he said, walking passed Yohan and bumping shoulders with him as he did so. Yohan turned to watch Mingi go before turning back to Wooseok who shrugged.

"How'd the training session go?" Asked Yohan. "He's getting better," said Wooseok. "I almost beat him this time," Junho said, puffing his chest out in pride. "Keyword is almost," Minhee said with a chuckle.

"I have a feeling that that won't be the last we see of those three," said Seungwoo as he tilted his head to the side. "I don't doubt it," said Wooseok. "I'll have to see what I can find out about them," he said. "If you'll allow me," he said. "Go for it," said Yohan. "Who knows, we may be able to figure out whose coven they belong to," he said.

Hyeongjun returned from his missions not too long after Minhee did, noting that there was something going on with the pack as a whole when Wooseok and Yohan had gone to pick him up from the train station. "What happened this time?" He asked as he climbed into the jeep after putting his bags in the trunk. "Dongpyo's been missing for a few days now," said Wooseok as he drove off, heading home. "What?!" Asked Hyeongjun.

"He did leave a note with Junho, but we don't know where he went," said Yohan. "Why did he disappear?" Asked Hyeongjun. "According to the note he felt the first signs of the change," said Wooseok. "He wanted to be away from everyone but we haven't found a trace of him since he left," he said.

"Even Seungyoun and Minhee couldn't find him?" Asked Hyeongjun. Wooseok shook his head no. "Seungwoo's tempted to go look for him, but we haven't decided on what to do yet," he said. "He couldn't've gone far right? I mean I'm sure he knows to stay within the property boundaries," said Hyeongjun. "He should," said Yohan.

When they got back to the house there was a gray tabby cat sitting on the railing of the front porch, its paw before turning its attention to Wooseok and the others as they walked over. "No way," said Wooseok as he noticed the cat.

"Did we get a new pet?" Asked Yohan as he blinked. "Or is that Dongpyo?" He asked. "Well," said Wooseok. "Considering he smells like Hyeongjun over here," he said, earning a snort from Hyeongjun. "This is Dongpyo," he said. "Well, I think Hangyul won that bet," said Yohan. "A gray tabby though? Couldn't be a mini tiger or something?" Asked Wooseok as he shook his head in amusement, reaching out to pet Dongpyo on the head.

"Well, at least you're home," said Yohan as he went to open the door. Dongpyo jumped down and headed inside with Wooseok, Yohan and Hyeongjun following after him.

"Yes!" Yelled Hangyul. "You guys each owe me 100 Euros!" He said to everyone. "Damn," said everyone. Dongpyo didn't look too pleased as he hissed, hopping up and into Hyeongjun's arms. "Can you even change back?" Asked Hyeongjun as he looked down at Dongpyo. Dongpyo shook his head no. "Not for the moment it seems," said Wooseok as he bent down in front of Hyeongjun to look at Dongpyo. "Junho was the same wasn't he?" Asked Yohan. Wooseok hummed in response.

"Well, let's make the best of it," said Yohan as he clapped his hands. "Give Dongpyo some space... And everyone pay Hangyul 100 euros," he said, the last part ending in a defeated sigh. Everyone groaned and went to do so, with Hangyul grinning in triumph as they handed him 100 Euros each. "Now to see what Eunsang and Dohyun change into!" Said Hangyul. "We are not betting on those two," said Yohan. "I didn't agree to this!" Said Eunsang and Dohyun. "Yeah yeah," said Hangyul as he left the room.
