Daehyun lied on his bed, staring at the dark, blank ceiling, imagining stars shining down from it. B.A.P had been having a hectic schedule and tonight was a lucky night because they actually got to sleep early. Unfortunately, Daehyun who never had problems sleeping had his mind filled with worries – from the most trivial, stupid things like he hadn’t have time to wash his blankets, to important, great things like the group’s future career. Yet, he found out tonight that he had never really looked at the ceiling here. It wasn’t pretty – it was only a normal ceiling – but it calmed him when he looked at it. At least it wouldn’t dazzle like camera flashlights that can blind people.

The members were making good use of this relaxing night to watch a movie, but Daehyun wasn’t in the right mood to do so. Therefore, here he was, lying on the bed on his own. He was caught off guard when Jongup pushed open the door with ease, though. He was surprised even by the fact that it was opened – he was too mesmerised by the ceiling.

“Hi hyung, I thought you were asleep?” Jongup ruffled his hair with a towel to dry it, while walked towards Daehyun’s direction.

“My brain just won’t shut up.” The older boy casually said while he continued staring up into the vast blankness. Jongup looked up and made a funny face.

“What are you looking at?” Jongup picked up the hair dryer, but then put it down, deciding not to use it, because it would make loud noises and disturb his hyung. Daehyun shook his head slowly, eyes still glued onto it as if it was an interesting thing to watch. Jongup scratched his head like a child and approached Daehyun’s bed, invited by the older boy who patted the empty space besides him, signalling him to lie down with him. Jongup obediently did so, like the good boy he was, and stared at the ceiling, following his hyung’s weird example. He still didn’t understand.

Daehyun sneaked an arm under Jongup’s neck and pulled him closer. “I am lost. I’m such a loser.” He squirmed a little before continuing. “I don’t know if I have chosen the right path or not.” This immediately cleared Jongup’s curiosity and all he wanted to do was to comfort the Busan boy. He didn’t really understand his frustration, but he tried to think of a helpful thing to do. Having no idea at all, he decided to hug the older boy tighter, sharing his warmth. “I am afraid of not meeting the audience’s expectation.”

“Me too, hyung.” The younger boy said in his sweet, soft voice, making the older smile without the younger knowing. “But… How can I make you happier?” He put his question into words, so that he wouldn’t overthink about this, although this reason “overthinking” wasn’t so applicable to his personality – he didn’t really like to think about these.

“I like your voice. Sing for me.” The reply came frankly, making the younger blush in the darkness. “I’m not joking.” The older nudged Jongup with his elbow, “Seriously, sing a song for me.” Determined to make Daehyun happy, he cleared his throat and contemplated for a few seconds before starting to sing beautiful melodies.

Daehyun removed his hand from under Jongup’s shoulders so that he could clap. “You’re so good.”

“No, you’re much better. Look at the contrast in amount of lines we get…” The younger shyly denied.

“Whatever you say, you’re the most precious little thing in my eyes, okay?” Daehyun encouragingly said. He didn’t sound like joking, so Jongup simply accepted his praise and made himself comfortable in Daehyun’s bed before staring into the dark ceiling above him.

What he saw wasn’t a dull concrete ceiling, but a universe filled with bright, burning stars waiting to be discovered.
