The inspiration for this drabble came from that! ^^

Happy New Year's Eve everybody!

It was cold but not snowing on New Year’s Eve, much to Youngjae’s delight. A low temperature without much wind wasn’t that awful. The boy tugged on the hem of his thick but not-too-bulky jacket and walked out to the balcony. Rubbing his two hands together hoping to generate some kind of heat, Youngjae took a deep breath of the night air soaked in hope and anticipation.

“This is our second new year’s eve together.” A familiar voice rang from the back and within a few footsteps, a pair of arms wrapped around the boy’s torso from behind. Youngjae’s eyes gently closed to enjoy the warm contact, not forgetting to hum a bit as a response. “Remember our last New Year’s Eve?”

Youngjae giggled. Of course he remembered. It was too much to forget.

Last New Year’s Eve the members were busy practicing for their debut showcase, with crazily packed schedules even though they hadn’t debuted yet. Every single day worried the hell out of them as their hopes for success all count on their efforts here and then. Let alone celebrating New Year, it felt sinful even to lie down and get some sleep. Youngjae felt especially stressful as he thought his vocal skills were lacking as a lead vocalist. He wasn’t that close to the other members either. It wasn’t like he hated them or something but Youngjae couldn’t bring himself to pour his feelings out to them. And that made things worse.

If Daehyun wasn’t added into the group, Youngjae wouldn’t be the Youngjae now.

And on that New Year’s Eve, Daehyun asked him out for the very first time. The day they admitted their feelings to one another…

Youngjae snapped out of his train of thoughts and smiled, turning his head a bit to nuzzle into the older boy’s crook of his neck. “How could I forget? It was the best eve I’ve ever had.”

“But it wasn’t perfect.” Daehyun quickly added. Youngjae loosened Daehyun’s arms and turned around, looping his arms around the older boy’s neck and pulling him closer. Staring into his eyes, he silently demanded an answer, but Daehyun simply showed another copy of his breath taking smile.

“It’s not time yet.” He grinned and rubbed their noses cheesily together. Youngjae leaned in for a kiss but Daehyun dodged it. Youngjae groaned. “I said it’s not time yet, babo.” He reminded, the stupid grin never leaving his face. Youngjae pouted with an angry face. Whatever, he mouthed, and pushed Daehyun away. Daehyun stumbled a few steps backward clumsily and grabbed the departing Youngjae’s shoulder, stopping him from leaving.

The sound of people counting down on the streets of Seoul as well as the boys in the dorm rang and stirred the still winter air. Swiftly, Daehyun pulled the dumbfounded boy close and whispered into his ears:

“3, 2, 1.”

Without hesitation the formerly whispering boy tilted his head and pressed his pair of warm, soft lips onto the younger’s. Youngjae couldn’t react until Daehyun pulled their bodies even closer to each other’s. Daehyun’s hands roamed around his back and spread warmth by rubbing it in a circular motion. Just as Youngjae pulled back for air Daehyun surprisingly leaned further in to nibble the younger’s lower lip. Shivers were sent all over Youngjae’s body and the older boy surprised him once again by pulling away at the moment Youngjae least wanted to.

The younger boy stared at the boy before him in disbelief, millions of question marks hidden in his eyes.

“This New Year’s Eve is finally perfect.” Daehyun then announced and walk away, back into the apartment.
