I could see he was equally shocked as well as he immediately released his grip on me when our eyes met.

The warmth that was emitted from the hug disappeared immediately and I couldn’t help but feel disappointed. It has been a while since I’ve experienced my heart beating so fast because of someone.

We stared at each other for about a minute before I broke the eye contact. “What are you doing here?” He asked. “I-I… Uh… fell asleep…” I said timidly and looked everywhere else except his eyes. “You?”

“I was running away from the fangirls. Just stay here for a few more minutes and we can go to the canteen to find the rest.” He said coldly and settled down on the bench I fell asleep at.

Should I ask him why he hates me? I mean, I never got a chance to ask him because he hates being in the same space as me and isn’t this the perfect chance to do it?

I was about to speak when he suddenly stood up and walked towards the door. Okay, my chance is gone.

“Shoot! I can’t open the door!” He panicked and started turning the doorknob in both directions. “Aish… I left my phone in the classroom. Do you have your phone?” He turned to me slightly, still fiddling with the lock.

I was silently thankful that we were locked in, so I could finally ask him why he hates me so much. It’s like being given a second chance, and I’m definitely not letting it go.

“It ran out of battery.” I lied although my phone was charged last night.

“Since we won’t be getting out for a while, why not we stay here and wait for the janitor to come back? I’m sure he’ll be back after lunch.” I said and rest myself on the bench while patting the seat next to me.

He sat down gingerly at the end of the bench, away from me and stared into space.
This is my chance.

“Sehun, can I ask you a question?” I said with a hint of doubt, I was afraid he would reject. I looked at him and he just stared back at me with his brown eyes.

I gulped from the nervousness, there was just something about him that made me feel intimidated, and I couldn’t help but get nervous.

“Why do you hate me so much? I mean, I don’t remember doing anything to irk you? If I did, I am so sorry, but you could tell me about it instead of hating-“

“It’s not about you, it’s me.”

“What do you mean?” I asked curiously and waited for him to answer.

Seconds ticked by and he still didn’t reply while I was practically suffocating from the nerve-wrecking moment.

“I’m actually a pretty good listener.” I chuckled silently, hoping to ease the tension.

“I felt like you stole my best friend away.” He whispered softly but I still caught it.

“Me?” I cocked my head to the side.

“When I saw you the first time, I was a little mad at you because I felt like you arrived late, and yet you were still granted a space. We could’ve started earlier without you, and without you, I was the maknae, the one who would be showered with love from everyone. And when Luhan got closer with you, he neglected me, and I disliked you even more. I felt like you were stealing my best friend away even though you weren’t doing anything. We used to be the best of friends, but when you came, things started changing, and I dislike change.” He stopped and bowed his head down.

“Luhan started telling me how nice of a person you were, and we got into a small fight the other day because I complained about how he was spending so much time with you and he was neglecting me. It was the first time we got into a fight, and it was because of you. I got even more upset.” He explained and I listened intently.

“I am so sorry… I didn’t know anything…” I said softly. “You might think I’m a really childish person, aren’t I?” He chuckled dryly. “Not at all, I used to be like that too.” I said and he turned his head to me.

“I felt that way with my best friends too. At that time, they hung out together so much and all they did was play computer games that I didn’t like. I talked to them about it, and we got into a fight as well, but we made up and they promised to include me in everything. From then on, the 3 of us became closer than ever.” I smiled as I thought of the time when I got jealous over Laura and Alfred talking about computer games all day and neglecting me because I didn’t share the same interest. Thankfully, that hobby didn’t last.

“That’s really childish of you.” He let out a soft chuckle. “Yes, I’m really childish when it comes to such things, but that shows I cherish them, isn’t it?” I smiled.

“I totally understand how you feel, and I’m sorry for making you feel this way. Let’s be good friends from now on, not only 3 of us, but with all the members as well! Truce?” I held out a hand and let out my widest smile, hoping he’ll agree.

“Truce.” His lips twitched into a smile as he took my hand. It felt like a huge stone was lifted from my shoulders and I was finally able to breathe.

“And I’m sorry for treating you badly.” He said softly as his eyes darted around the room. “Yeah, you were really mean.” I said and we both chuckled.

Just then, my phone rang again and Sehun turned to me with wide eyes while I quickly answered it.

“Where are you?!” Kai screamed into the phone and I had to hold it away from me.
“I’m stuck in the janitor’s room! Come and help me!” I replied.
“What?! Okay, I’m coming with the guys!” He said and hung up.

“I thought your battery died?” Sehun asked curiously.

“Well… If I didn’t say that we wouldn’t have made up, would we?” I smiled and he just chuckled.
“Thank you for the lie then.” He said and gave a smile.

The door flung open and there stood Kai, Tao, Chanyeol and Luhan panting.
