“Hoy Winter!”

“Ningie!”

Pumasok kayong dalawa ng kabigan mo sa isang jewelry store. More like, inakbayan mo at hinila papasok si Ningning.

“Seryoso ka talaga?”

“Ningie, of course!”

You looked at the rings na nakadisplay sa baba. Not bothering na tignan ang itsura ng kaibigan mong di makapaniwala sa sinasabi mo, gulat na gulat sa announcement mo.

“Hindi ba masyado kang nagmamadali, Win? Two years palang kayo ni Ate Rina. Ang malupit pa nyan, ang alam lang ng lahat aside from me na roommates lang kayong dalawa.”

“Alam mo bes, tama talaga eh you just really know na this person is the one!”

She rolled her eyes at you.

“Narinig mo ba yung sinabi ko kanina? Ang bilis mo naman, speedt ka gurl?"

“Ning, lagpas 2 years na kami at matatapos na ko sa law school. Papatapusin ko naman sya medicine, gusto ko lang na malaman nyang  I really want to spend the rest of my life with her and sana ganon di sya sa akin.”

“Edi promise ring na lang ang ibigay mo instead ng pangproposal.”

“Ning, bakit pa ko magpropromise ring kung I’m promising her my whole life na? I love Rina so much and she deserves nothing less.”

“Winter, magiging honest ako. This spells disaster! First gf ka ni Ate Rina, don’t you think hindi sya mabibilisan sa ginagawa mo?”

“So you’re saying she’s going to say no to me? She doesn’t love just as much? But sabi naman nya sa akin last summer, she was planning to tell her family about us, sure naman na yata sa akin eh.”

“Win, wag mo nga kong ginaganyan kahit magpuppy eyes ka ganon pa rin ang standpoint ko! Look, I told you stop planning super ahead. I’m not saying Ate Rina doesn’t love you, she does obviously! Nakakasawa nga magthird wheel sa inyo, ang sinasabi ko lang wag kang magmadali or kung tama man ang isa ko pang hinala stop being insecure.”

“Ning, of course not. Hindi ako insecure!”

“I think this is still about you being Ate Rina’s first girlfriend. You’re afraid na iwan ka nya for a guy?”

“No hindi sa ganon, I trust her.”

“Eeehhh tigilan mo nga ko. Tigilan mo rin kasi na icompare sa nangyari sa first gf mo ang mga latest happenings a buhay mo. Tungaks ka! Iba naman kasi yung si Arin kay Ate Rina no! Ate Rina is way too sincere sayo para ihalintulad mo sa ex mong ginawa kang experiment.”

Natahimik ka, okay fine! Medyo takot ka nga kasi naman sobrang lovable ng jowa mo, di ka na magtataka if some of her exes are still bothering her para makipagbalikan. 

What if pandalian lang yung nararamdaman nya for you after all she doesn’t really like girls, uhhm except you? 

“Eto ang gawin mo, ayusin mo yang sarili mo. Talk to Ate Rina about your worries and stop taking the shortcut hindi ka angkas at lalong hindi masosolusyanan ng ganyan lang ang problema mo.”

Nag-iisip ka but then, a ring caught your attention. Tama lang, not too simple and not too extravagant. 

Bagay na bagay sa mahal mo.

“I’m sorry Ning pero I will get this ring and propose to her on New Year! I want to make sure that the next years of my life will be spent with her.”

Nauna kang magising at agad kang napangiti when you saw your girlfriend na hindi pa nakakaalis sa dreamland nya. She likes sleeping a lot syempre she still likes you more pa rin hmmpf. 

Dahan-dahan mong inalis ang kamay mong nakayakap sa kanya para naman makapagfreshen up ka na. Well, weekend kaya the both of you have all day to spend with one another. You thought of ordering na lang so Winter does not have to cook para she can cuddle you buong araw.

She should not blame you, sobra kasing hectic ng schedules nyo pareho last week. Busy ka sa med school at sya naman sa last year nya sa law school. 

Miss na miss mo sya. 

You can’t help but feel sad kasi next week, Christmas vacation na and uuwi ka sa family mo, hanggang bagong taon usually ang stay mo kaya you won’t see her sa pagpapalit ng taon.

Sya naman, you are not sure this year kasi nabanggit nya her mom is on a business trip so you don’t know her plans yet.

Nilapitan mo sya after mo maghilamos at magmumog. 

Why does she have to look so cute kahit walang ginagawa?

Pinindot mo ang ilong nito para lang asarin sya. Madalas kasi sya ang nagigising ng maaga kaya ikaw tong laging nabibiktima nya.

“Good morning!”

“Tsk tsk why are looking at me? Stalker!”

“As if you don’t do this with me every damn day Miss Winter, buti na lang I woke up early today. Baka tinunaw mo na naman ako.”

“Your fault for being too pretty in the morning.”

“Sa umaga lang?”

“No, all the time but you’re my favorite during morning.”

“Sus bakit naman kasi haggard na ako after school?”

“Uy hindi ah still pretty naman kahit stressed what I mean is kasi you are the first thing I see that’s why I really love the morning you.”

“Iiieeeehhh! Nakakainis bolera masyado!”

Pinisil mo ang pisngi, pamatay talaga ang cute cheeks nya. 

You went back to lay beside her and sinaside hug sya. Dahil trip mo sya inisin today kaya tinitigan mo lang sya, she really dislikes it kasi nacoconscious daw sya masyado sa itsura nya. 

“Rina....”

“Ano?”

“Jagi... agghh stop looking at me! Mukha kaya akong ewan pagbagong gising eh. Nakakahiya tumabi sayo.”

Pinipilit nyang ilayo ang sarili nya sayo at magtalukbong ng kumot but you don’t let her, hinihigpitan ang yakap mo sa kanya.

“No! Baby you look just right with me kaya.”

You kissed her sa lips and a whine escapes from her.

“Rina, hindi pa ko nagtotoothbrush!”

“Don’t care, I want my morning kiss!”

“Jagi, stop!”

“No, not until you properly kiss me. I want my daily dose of morning kisses now.”

You heard her sigh in defeat.

“Fine, come here.”

While kissing, you remember yung iniisip mo kanina, you don’t really want to spend this 2-week vacation away from her. Winter really got you wrapped around her fingers and it’s unfair kasi 2 years palang. No one, not even your ex boyfriends made you feel this way within a short period of time.

Days with her are always full of happiness and contentment. Pagod na pagod ka sa med school but every time you see her waiting for you at the end of the day, alam mong worth it lahat ng hirap mo. 

Kasi she inspires you to do best and to do more, you hope ganoon ka rin sa kanya. Sana you’re enough para mabawasan kahit papaano yung pagod at stress nya sa law school.

You can’t imagine being away from her anymore.

“I love you, Jagi...”

She whispered with that tiny sound she always makes Medyo inangat nito ang sarili nya to kiss your forehead. Ghaaad, you love this girl so much and you want to keep her inside your pocket everywhere you go.

“Love you too, my baby.”

After mong makanakaw pa ulit ng maraming halik, you decided to finally tell her what has been bugging you since this early morning.

“Hey Winter, what do you say about spending Christmas with me and my family this year?”

Pareho na kayong nakasettle sa sasakyan, yung mga gamit nyo nandoon sa likod na seat. She said sya na raw ang magdrive since lugar nila ang pupuntahan niyo.

“I thought you told them last summer?”

“Ayun nga babe, I forgot to tell you that a cousin of mine announced that he’s getting married kaya I don’t want to steal the spotlight. I decided to just tell them next time.”

“Oh okay...”

“One more thing pala Win, just say na you are also a Med student so they won’t be too suspicious about us being roommates.”

“Wait, Rina haven’t you told them na you’re in a relationship already?”

Napadaudos ka sa harap bigla syang prumeno.

“Oohh , jagi!”

“Omg! Sorry baby umm kasi they don’t know yet and uhmm also don’t mention that you’re bi and you had ex-girlfriends. My family is quite conservative.”

Wait, parang may kulang, may mali.

“You mean you are not out to them?”

“Well, you are my first girlfriend and there are so many things that happened last year. Promise, I was supposed to say it kaso nga lang my other siblings and cousins had things going on with their lives din.”

“Akala ko naman the purpose of this vacation is for me to meet them.”

“Of course and because I want to spend this holiday with all the people I love!”

“So we are going to tell them together?”

“NO! I mean no, not yet baby. We’ll tell them we’re friends and roommates muna. Ayun lang sa ngayon uhmm kasi my grandparents would also be there and I don’t want to shock them. I promise iuunti-unti ko naman pero not now and let’s just focus on making this holiday memorable.”

You don’t want to stress her too much, syempre kahit pa ipakilala ka as friend lang you want her family to have a good impression sa iyo. 

You’re determined to do that kahit anong mangyari you should not ruin this chance na makilala ang family nya.

“Okay, I understand.”

Lumapit sya sayo to kiss you saglit, caress your right cheek softly.

“Thank you, baby.”

Seems like your plan to propose have to wait again since hanggang New Year kayo sa kanila, sana naman the next time you decide na ituloy yon wala ng problema.
